Question about Nikon COOLPIX S8000 Digital Camera

3 Answers

My daughter drropped her coolpix s8000 camera. It landed on the corner near the flash and bent in a little. The flash would not open up. I had to bend ti back so the flash will now pop up. However, the flash does not work with a message that says the flash is not fully raised. Where is the senso for the flash being raised?

I had the same issue, droped camera then even if flash is opened the flash was no triggered. As Paul said I found the sensor for sensing the flash position, I made a few trials then I soldered one pin of the sensor to the sensor's case like in the picture attached. Now is working the flash all the time even if it is closed.... opening the flash is manually.... but still better than without flash at all..

Hi, I have a Nikon Coolpix S8000 and last week I dropped it. One of the edges is a bit damaged, but everything seems to work normally. The problem that came up later is that although flash raises normally, I get the message "Flash is not fully raised" and all the photos are taken with no flash, even when I choose to take photos with flash and it's actually fully raised. What can I do??? Thanks in advance!

Did you ever find the solution? My wife did exactly what you described. I remvoed the side of the camera and am guessing the sensor is the square metal component just above and to the left of the screw that goes throught the circuit board - since there is a small plastic arm that moves across the metal component as the flash opens. Whether it's fixable I don;t know.

How to check nikon coolpix s800 battery level

In the upper right corner of the LCD there is a small battery level indicator. When the battery is fully charged, it is all black. As the charge goes down, one side will be white and the other side black to indicate the remaining charge. If you look at item 6 on page 6 of the manual, it shows you. This link will take you to your camera's manual: http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/coolpix/S800cRM_EN.pdf

My coolpix s8000 will no longer charge, even when plugged into the usb cable.

Have you tried other outlets in your house? If the battery door of the s8000 is open, the charge will not go through. Depending on how much you've been using your camera, you may need to call up Nikon for their support team and ask to get your camera repaired, the battery may be dead and no longer holds a charge.

My camera is a Nikon Coolpix S8000. Just got it for Christmas. I cant seem to find a Red-Eye reduction feature on this camera. The lovely photos of my new grandson are spoiled with red eyes. I expected all...

If you press the button with the icon of a lightning bolt and watch the screen, you will see the various settings for the flash. One of them is the red-eye setting. Check your manual.

Quite regularly when I turn my new Coolpix S8000 on to take photos a message "memory card is write protected" appears on the screen & the camera won't operate. If I turn the camera...

on the side of the card you have a little button and it has 2 position : lock and free. if the button is on lock position that may be the problem! so please check it and put the button on free position and try again!
