Question about Cameras

I have a canon powershot SD700IS. When I try to take a picture, half of the screen is out of focus, and the entire picture is out of focus after it's taken. Suggestions?

Thanks for your help. I tried both of your suggestions and I keep hearing the lens make a clicking noise when it's trying to focus. And now the yellow flashing is coming on, which means it's having trouble focusing. So I think it must be an internal problem now.

    Again, thanks.

I don't understand how the half screen out of focus problem is occuring, but there is a focusing ring that swivels and adjusts the focus inside the lens assembly, and it is controlled by signals to electromagnets. When lint, dust, sand, etc., work it's way into the lens assembly, it can jam up the focusing ring. You can spray some compressed air into the lens assembly to try to free the ring up. After you do that, and if it doesn't work, you can try to gently bump the camera, trying to free the ring up.
Other than that, the camera will have to be serviced. Get an estimate first, since repair service can be costly.
Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

Why is my led screen blurry in low light before I take a picture?

It sounds like your camera settings have the( AF Assist Beam) on Off? That is the Amber Color light you see when you half press the shutter button. If that setting is set to OFF, then the camera can not focus in low light giving you blurry pictures as it can not see any light to assist the camera on focusing. If you turn on the (AF Assist Beam) to on, they when you press the shutter button half ways down you will see a Reddish/ Amber light, that light helps the camera find a focus point, giving you a slightly better low light photo.

My canon powershot sd630 is very slow to take the picture after i press the button?

You need to press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep) before pressing the rest of the way.

I have just purchased Canon Powershot A480

I think the "busy" part can be put down to the camera performing a function or recharging the flash. The red icon I THINK shows that the camera is focussing.

With the last model it worked so that you could half press the button to focus on something (eg a fast moving pet) and then once your pet stopped moving your could fully press the button to take a photo and the focus distance would remain the same.

Sounds like you may not be in "Auto" mode. Press the "Func/Set" button, then press Right or Left to select the "Auto" mode.

SD550 camera not focusing correctly. Green focus square sometimes shows up, sometimes not, either way, it's not clear even on the digital screen prior to taking the shot. Camera does make a slight click...

to make the green square show up just press the shutter button until half (this is called the half press) when the green square shows up then it means that the camera has focused already, if not repeat the process til green square comes out you can press the shutter button fully to take picture when you see the green square...

Hi....
Canon parts and repair service is excellent. All the parts of canon powershot is readily available in the market for reasonable price.

For your reference i am giving you the site where they take up these kind of problems.
the website is " http://www.mcvr.com/canon_powershot.htm#LCD ".

Replacing a broken or cracked LCD display screen:
  • Powershot A Series: $90 for most all models (a few dollars less on some)
  • Powershot S Series (S30 - S80, S100-S500, S1-IS, S2-IS): $90 for most models (a few dollars less on some)
  • Powershot SD200, SD300, SD400, SD630: $100 (the LCD for these models is more expensive)
  • All other Powershot SD Series models (including SD700IS and 800IS): $90
  • Powershot G2, G3: $90. Some other G series Powerhot models cost $10-20 more because of the higher parts cost.
The above price list is from the mentioned website.Hope my info is useful.
Bye.

Downloading pictures to computer from camera Canon SD700IS

you could plug your camera into the computer through the usb port.

If you have a SD memory card reader in your computer, you could take the card out of the camera and insert it into the SD slot of the reader.

Blurred pictures

Batteries don't play a role in it. Maybe it has slow focus. Try to push the shooting button to only half of its full push, wait a while until it focuses an then shoot by full press on the shoot button. You can also check if you have not switched on macro settings (flower in frame). If you do, turn it off.
