Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a GE Concept II Designer Series washing machine (Serial # SV164690C that I am having troubles with the plastic agitator column. It appears loose on the inside of the machine and that it may need to be tightened. Is there a way to tighten the agitator? I have had success in the past with older machines that have a nut right at the top of the agitator. This one appears to be hidden. How do I get to it?

that's right just put your fingers under agitator and pull up,under the agitator is a coupler that has a screw in it,whirlpool has the nut in there,if you have a problem with the agitator not moving the clothes around that coupler wears out and has to be replaced.

Grab it in a choke hold and yank straight up. It should pop right off. There are plastic tabs that hold it to a coupler. Let me know if it gives you trouble.

How do you remove the agitator from the Maytag Ultimate Care II washing machine?

Pull out the softener cup. Remove the water seal by pulling on the two wings. Remove the retaining bolt with an 11mm socket and a couple extentions. Pull the entire agitator out of the machine. With a sharp pointed tool cut the four melted portions of the white plastic **** even with the top of the clear plastic ratchet assembly by inserting your tool thru one of the three holes in the side of the top agitator. Pull the top agitator from the bottom agitator.

One stupid question on trying to get access to the nut to remove the agitator shaft. After I removed the fabric softener dispenser there appears to be a plastic cap between. I've tried everything I can to remove this piece of plastic so i can get access to bolt.. Am I missing something obvious?

How to separate auger from agitator. whirlpool ultimate care II

When you look down into the agitator, are there 4 white plastic points that look slightly melted or otherwise deformed? If so, using a small flat head screw and a small hammer, separate the white plastic from the surrounding translucent plastic. Once you've done that, it should easily pull apart.

How do you remove an agitator from a ge washing machine. I removed the fabric softener dispensor, but there is a clear plastic cover underneath that cannot be removed.

Well, first we have to determine if it is a Whirlpool washer or a GE washer, as they are quite different. I'm going to assume its a Whirlpool. When you remove the fabric softener dispenser from the center of the agitator, there is an opaque plastic cover under that. It must be removed to reveal the agitator retaining bolt underneath it. They can be quite hard to get out sometimes, you just have to be persistent. If you break it, it is replaceable as a separate part, part number W10074580.

Admiral Designer Series Super Capacity Washing Machine

This machine will rotate the motor to agitate in one direction and then reverse to activate the pump and the clutch for spin. I would remove the inspection plate and watch the motor and pump in action in both wash and spin, go to and dig around you will find parts and a wire schematic on this machine.

Noise in washer need to know how to remove agitator

For most Kenmore, Whirlpool, Estes, Maytag, and some GE washers the top portion of the agitator can be pried off (either a cap or fabric sofrtner dispenser depaneing on make and model) and there is a bolt underneath. Once removed, the agitator can be lifted straight out. Some GE's you have to actually "pop" the agitator by placing a strap underneath and lifting it out that way. If your are still having trouble, reply back with your model and serial number and we can go from there.
