You need a niminal 3 ton compressor...the "36" in the model number gives you the 3 ton rating...36000 BTU @ 12000 BTU/ton = 3 ton...
So you need a 3 ton 240 volt single phase compressor...

How do I check the compressor

What I would do first which is very simple is leave the fridge on for a bout 20 min. Unplug it, pull it out, pull the bottom cover off and place your hand on the compresser, if it is very hot, compresser is pooped. If it is not warm at all then I would first check the thermostat. If the thermostat is closing properly then you can check for power at the compresser by pulling the little black cover off of where the wires enter the compresser. If there is voltage there 120v then unplug the fridge and pull the connectors off of the terminals on the compresser, remembering where they go of corse. Between two of the terminals you should get a low resistance. Say 1.5 and through another set you should get a higher one. Say 4.6 then through the last test you should get those two nembers added up 6.1 if your meter says OL at any time that means you have an open winding and the compresser is done for. If your numbers do not add up then you may have a shorted winding and your compresser is done for. Good luck

If the compressor cycles on and off very fast, you most likely are low on coolant and it needs recharged.

Wont to get rid of aircondition compresser what

you could try and measure around all the pulys and figure out what size belt is needed or try calling a ford dealer or some local auto parts store, they might be able to pull up a belt size/part number for a engien that is not running a a/c compressor.

How do I replace the a/c clutch on 1998 grand Marquis

The AC clutch can be replaced but the logic for doing so isn't good. A remanufactured Compresser with clutch cost very little mare and the compresser being bad is very likly to be the cause of the bad clutch. Once you installed the clutch its yours and you'll lose its cost if you still need a compresser. Change the compresser it's not worth the difference in cost

Air conditionin gunit keeps tripping breaker. A/C is carrier 5 years old compressor?

Sounds like you have a grounded compresser with a direct short. To know for sure you can disconnect the compresser and then flip the breaker and see if it still trips. If it still does check the motor, but this is most likley the compresser sorry.Carrier does have a 5 yr warranty so hurry and call someone it could still be in warranty!

AC compresser throws breaker

It could be a few things..
Might be the compressor going out ;o(
But could be the capacitor..
Its about a 4 inch part with 3 wire conectors at the top.. Could be round or oval and is usually metal & looks like a can..
This part replacement fixes problems in allot of cases & shouldnt cost to much.. If it is not the problem - at leaste that part is eliminated... Good luck..

Freezer side compresser short cycling sounds like compresser is laboring pressures are at 150/hs before shutting down and re trying

Assuming you have checked that the defrost system and fans are working correctly. I suspect that you have a blockage in the refrigeration system. You need to flush and vacuum and replace the reciever drier.
