My microwave does not heat. Sounds like it's working just fine....but food is not heated. Is it time to replace it? Panasonic doesn't support it anymore.

By the time you pay for the service call to diagnosis the part needed and labor it can cost anywhere from 250-400 dollars to repair I discourage home owners from attempting to repair a MW parts store lethal voltage even while unplugged there are too many components from the control down to the magnetron that could have failed if not supported anymore I would advise replcment

If it is still new and under warranty, the best answer is to exchange it immediately! It sounds like you got a defective unit with either a bad magnatron, a bad power supply, or bad control circuitry. If you had a service man look at it and it is even worse now, you really need to exchange it. If you try to fix it yourself you will void the warranty.

Whirlpool mircowave will not heat

HI, the high voltage capacitor is unstable and, it has damaged the Magnetron. you will need to replace the Magnetron. it will run you about $191.30. this will restore the heating action in your microwave unit.

Wont heat

Hi!

Here are two instances when this happens---
  • When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out.

You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results.

If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component.

  • When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly.

If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective.

Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details.

Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat.

If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem.
If you find this solution helpful then do rate this solution.

Thanks
Rylee

My Kenmore 64663 still heats but I don'y hear the fan anymore while heating

If it's the internal cooling fan, you really need to get that repaired before you cook anymore with it. Otherwise, your magnetron will be destroyed.

If it's the hood / exhaust fan, then the problem may be the motor or a problem on the control board. If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can probably find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number here at the Sears parts site.

A full Sears/Kenmore model number usually has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you don't feel confident to tackle it yourself, I would contact Sears for service.
