Hello.

There are lots of factors that could slow your ASDL connection:

Spyware / malware - download, install and run malwarebytes.com It's free.

Not enough memory in your computer. Add memory, if you can.

Contact your Internet provider to see if they can resolve the speed issue.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

First, i will advice you scan your system to ensure the system is virus free, because virus can make make an internet run slow, if after scanning the system to ensure the system is virus free, problem still persist, uninstall windows 7 and check the performance of the internet, if there is difference, you will need to talk to your network service provider to increase your bandwidth or do something about the problem.

Take care.

Internet has become ridiculously slow over wifi

Unfortunately so many things can interfere with wireless technology - Microwaves, Electricity Cords, Computers, Etc. Unfortunately wireless also struggles to travel through floors and certain types of walls etc.

It may be the floor, combined with the distance from the router, as well as the electrostatic field that the electricity wiring in your house may start up.

Best thing to do would be to wire up an extender upstairs and you should be out to extend your wireless signal, and get a good download speed.

My internet connection is slow. wireless home network setup connected to adsl.

is it as slow as when you connect it from the router(not the modem) to your pc with a wire instead of wireless? if so its bc adsl is slow in nature and you may need a filter adapter going into your MODEM first

Adsl modem giving very slow and intermittent internet connection

this is not a problem with ur PC or router this could be in the Filter or splitter that ur ISP gave you, what i would do is call ur ISP and have them run a line test that could be the reason
i work for att. and that does happen ALOT you can also go to
www.speakeasy.net go to the bottom you should see whats my speed or test ur speed click on that and select a server closest to you and it will run a speed test up and download speed

good luck ,

I have a Comtrend ADSL2 + router and i want to know how to configure to get it to download faster

hi welcome to fixya! when it comes to internet, ADSL2 + router has really a big factor when in-terms of connections, because it helps to boost more speed. But the problem is it has nothing to do with the downloads I mean if your looking for a faster downloads it needs a high-speed bandwidth connection meaning it depends on the service provider where you attached to. And they have many types of a high-speed connection like: 512kbps, 1mbps, T1, 3mbps and etc.  Just select on this type of connection from your ADSL provider and they would love to teach you the right configuration to have a faster download.

Internet cut out

Hi,

Below is part of my reply to a latter post of yours.

  • internet keeps on making this weird sound on my home phone - do you have a ADSL In-Line Filter/Splitter like the image shown below? If yes, pls check if the phone is connected to the phone and vice-versa. There are instances where they could have been reversed. If correct, it may require replacement.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Optus adsl2 is slow

Unfortunately most problems like this are caused by poor telephone line quality which makes it a BT problem. See if your neighbours are getting faster ADSL speeds. IF they are then report an ADSL fault to BT. Also try disconnecting your house wiring right back to the master socket and test your ADSL from there. Remember that the ADSL connection is only between your computer and your local BT sub-exchange from there to the rest of the internet is a high speed pipe shared between all the ISP's used in your area, the various ISP's just rent a portion of the bandwith of the pipe.
