Question about Pentair Fns Plus 48 sqft De Pool Filter (In Ground Pool)

1 Answer

I just cleaned out my Pentair FSN filter as I hve done several times before. I replaced the internal air bleed assembly from the factory piece (broken filter piece) to one with a screen from the pool store. my system fills the spa then water passes over the spillway and then gets cycled through the filter. I have a check valve to assist in the return to the filter. the pressure is way up. now the spa is draining into the pool and the fill lines into the spa are shooting harder than i've ever seen. what's up?

It sounds like your valving for the return water is set wrong. check to make sure that some water will return to the spa when the pool is running. It's a valving problem more than it is a filter problem.

Do I need a pressure tank with a Pentair Water 3/4Hp Pres Wtr System 3075Ss Utility Pumps?

Depends on your application. If you are using it to provide water to a residence or other on/off use, you need a pressure tank and a pressure switch to control it. If you are filling a open air tank, no pressure tank needed. If you are just pumping water out of a well and directly to an ditch type irrigation system no tank needed.

I need step by step instructions on replacing a fuel filter in a 1998 gmc 6.5 turbo diesel please

I got this from Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual. I bought it for my 6.2.
1. Remove the fuel filler cap and air cleaner assembly.
2. On filters without an air bleed screw, place a rag under the filter to soak up fuel and detach the lower clip FIRST to release pressure and then the top clip. They pop off with a screwdriver.
3. On filters with an air bleed screw (top passenger side) drain fuel from the filter by opening the screw first and the engine water drain valve (engine front near thermostat) if it has one. Detach the clips and remove filter.
4.Make sure the seating surface is clean and place new filter in position. On non-air bleed filters put the upper clip on FIRST. On air bleed filters secure both clips, then close the valve and attach a piece of hose to the bleed port into a pail.
5. Air must be purged BEFORE start up, so disconnect the pink wire from the top of the injector pump and crank the engine in 10 second cycles with a 30 second wait time until clear bubble-free fuel comes out the lower fitting or air bleed. Connect the lower clip on the non-air bleed , close the bleed hose and reconnect the pink wire.
6. Start the engine and let it idle for several minutes to purge any remaining air and check for leaks.
Hope this helps.

Difficulty in putting filter back together in getting clamp ring on

When reassembling the grids place the manifold upside down on a five gal. bucket. Then assemble that way, this will hold the grids stable and make that part much easier.
When that is done and in place. Lightly grease the tank "O" ring. Then run the pump to fill the bottom of the filter with water. With the air bleed closed set the top and lightly push down. As the water inside runs back to the pool the suction created will pull the top down tight. Then just set the ring and tighten.

When pump starts up i get a small cloud of de in my inground spa every time it starts up. I have had the filter looked at by a pool repairman every thing looks good he is stumped as to this is happing ...

If all your grids are in good shape you have to look at your manifold real close for cracks and around the internal air bleed. When checking your grids be sure the nipples that go into the manifold are also in good shape and when reassembling make sure all fit comfortably and get them tight. Hope this helps, good luck.

Water is seeping out from the pressure gauge on top of the filter.

You probably need to replace the air bleed assembly or just the pressure guage, depending where the water is coming from.

Where is the fuel filter on a turbo desail

Your fuel filter is mounted on the rear of intake manifold, under air cleaner or on rear firewall.
Just a little hint on replacing it, remove your fuel tank cap to release pressure or vacuum in the tank. I'm sending you a diagram the fuel filter assembly so it will make it a little simpler for you to replace your fuel filter. Start by removing the filter element nut. Remove filter element by lifting straight out of filter housing. It is not necessary to drain fuel from filter housing when changing the filter element.
Installation, ensure mating surface between filter element assembly and filter housing is clean. Install new filter element by aligning widest key slot located under element assembly cap with widest key in filter housing assembly.
Tighten element nut by hand. Bleed air from fuel manager/filter assembly. Connect a hose to air bleed valve and place other end of hose in a container.
Disconnect fuel injection pump shutoff solenoid wire. Crank engine for 10 to 15 seconds. Allow starter to cool down for one minute between cranking intervals. Repeat procedure until clear fuel is observed at the air bleed hose.
Close air bleed. Connect injection pump shutoff solenoid wire and reinstall fuel filler cap. Start engine and allow to idle for five minutes. Check fuel manager/filter for leaks.9df1ca0.gif

Replace the grids in my Pentair NSP60 filter

Remove the band clamp on the tank and start the pump for a second or two untill the top pops then open the air bleed to drain the tank and pull top off. There will be two nuts that you remove from the long studs that come through the top manifold . Once you remove these gently turn the manifold back and forth while pulling up on it. When you get it off rock the grids and pull them up. You will need a garbage handy while you do this to put the caked D.E. in. When all the grids are out you acn pull the bottom frame out. and rinse the base by turning the pump on till the filter base fills then shut the pump off and open the backwash and rinse with a hose while it drains out. You can rinse the parts while you do this if your quick enough. If you used a five gallon bucket to put your old D.E. in Turn the manifold upside down and then assemble with your new grids. Seven are the same size one is smaller that one coresponds with the stand pipe and the bottom has a notch for the same. Whild upside down the grids will line up with the bottom frame a lot easer than when righted. with the steel bolts in their holes carefully tilt the assembly to start the nuts on the through bolts. When they are hand tight rite the assembly and finish tightening it all up. At this point you can lube the stand pipe "O" ring and install a new tank "O" ring. Set the assembly back in the tank and replace the top faceing the same direction as when it came off. Replace the tank band clamp and tighten evenly one side then the other if you have two bolts on it till the coils in the springs touch each other. If it's old enough not to have springs on the bolts tighten them till they squeek.Start pump, bleed air out of tank, ck for leaks and recharge the filter. If you take apart like this once a year and clean the grids or after alge problems you should get eight or ten years from the grids. Good luck!
