Check the brand of your sound card. if it is internal drive then copy paste the brand to your internet browser and find the updated installer of it

Volume control does not respond all the time

I've had this problem at times, and it's either a software detection issue, or the volume control gets some dust in it and is intermittent, sometimes not working. I've learned to work around the problem by leaving the volume control turned up, and using the windows control to adjust it (it's the sound icon in the lower right hand bottom icon menu.
Not sure if there's a fix for this...I've noticed that if I push the volume control hard, I got it to work at times. It could be a problem with the control wheel (potentiometer), but since it seems to be a common problem, a replacement may not produce better results.
I would suggest doing what I do- it's a lot easier and works (at least for me).
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Cannot "unmute' -volume control

First, check the connections and make sure you have everything plugged in correctly. Restart the PC...try clicking on the icon again...if that doesn't work, post back and we'll try to figure it out.

How do i fix my hp media center desktop pc's volume. it doesnt work and i have all volume turned up on the monitor. still doesnt have volume in it. pleases help

This is a generic issue with all Windows OS updates....many of the users are facing this issue....this issue began after an auto update from MS changed many IRQs of Win OS, mainly the Sound and Audio Control system of Windows.
1 - R U facing NO Audio / No Sound issue...?
2 - Is ur Volume Control not responding ?
3 - Is ur Sound and Audio Device in Control Panel Grayed out ?
4 - Do u get a msg "No Active Mixer Devices Installed....when u try to open Volume Ctrl etc etc ?

If ur ans to any one of them is Yes...then u are being spammed by Microsoft....as ur Sound Control IRQ is being frozen by a recent update from Microsoft....

NOTE..THIS…IS…VERY..IMPORTANT...
No file update or any sound driver update can fix it, neither Microsoft is issuing any patch to fix it…or giving any help on this.
Full solution is available in my website (Support page)...it's quite simple process to fix it, and I am not charging any money, just doing FREE service to help everyone affected by this stupidity from Microsoft.
www.sureshayyar.110mb.com
visit my Support Page.

many of us are victim of this “stupid” update, my office has 24 PC/Notebooks and almost all of them got this issue one by one in 4 months time period, I head the tech dept here.
all the best...
Kindly leave a feedback/rating to this solution as it will help me understand if my solution worked

Change the volume in WMC doesn´t working...

If the remote control causes a visible change with the volume control display but no audible difference, there are only three possible fixes. 1.)Go to Windows "Start > Control Panel > Sounds > Advanced. Here you will find a set of several volume control slide bars each with a check box at the bottom for muting. Un-check any controls marked as muted and raise the volume to 50%. Exit Control Panel. 2.) Many P.C. speaker systems are self amplified and have their own volume controls which supercede anything you do through Windows. 3.)If the problem persists you most likely have a jack plugged into the wrong feed. Allways power OFF and ground yourself before fiddling with computer jacks.
