Probably going to be a paired piston&cylinder http://www.ebay.com/itm/HUSQVARNA-359-357-CYLINDER-AND-PISTON-KIT-47MM-/140580138020
you will need to replace both.. remove your muffler and see scorched(black streaks) piston, fused rings. Remove air filter and carb to see scored cylinder wall(on hot side)

How to take out the piston in my chain saw

The cylinder must be removed from the crankcase (be sure to clean the exterior of the engine and all parts with compressed air first). That involves removing the carburetor, muffler, cylinder head, and possibly the entire outer case parts. If the piston/ring(s) requires replacement due to scuffing, the cylinder will likely need to be replaced also. Many modern engines use a chrome plated lining for the cylinder interior and any piston damage will affect the cylinder plating also. Use great care when installing the new piston in the cylinder as the ring(s) are quite fragile. Also look for direction marks on the piston as some engines use an offset pin. Be sure to lubricate everything as you go with saw oil to prevent start-up damage. Hope this helps!

HOW DO I REMOVE THE CHAINDRIVE CLUCH ON A 359 SAW

My 359 has 3 detents rather than 2 but other than that is like the video.

  1. Check the IPL for your saw to see if any special tools are needed. Poulan (Craftsman, Jonsered, Husky) clutch removal tool part number 530031112 if needed, is under $5 from many sources (look at the visible area between the weights if 2 small round sockets are visible you need the tool).
  2. There are metal piston stops available, when square (almost never) with the piston top these work well, if not square they have been known to punch through the piston. I suggest a length of nylon rope (nothing left behind) be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises.
  3. Everyone I have ever removed had a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it).

If you need them, part numbers for Husqvarna and Oregon rim sprockets can be found below.

Husqvarna chainsaw model 359 will not restart after refuel and bar+chain oil refill. Prior to the refuel it was starting within a few pulls. I was bucking a felled pine tree(36'' dia) and saw was running...

Make sure you use the highest octane unleaded fuel you can buy. Make sure your mixture is exactly as prescribed, even the slightest deviation can be a problem. My Husgavarna 359 had the problem just like yours when it was new, new. I would have to take the spark plug out and let it dry out or blow it out with air. It would then run like a top.

Husky 359 clutch bearing lube tech

Remove the chain brake cover and check the end of the crankshaft to see if there is a small hole for the roller nose lube gun that should have came with the saw. If so, inject a couple of pumps into this hole which will put grease into the bearing.

If no hole exists then you will have to remove the clutch housing from the saw which can only be done easily with an air or electric impact wrench. The nut comes of in the OPPOSITE direction (counterclockwise) that the nut rotates in when in operation - this should be very easy. Then remove the clutch housing which will expose the needle bearing and using your fingers smear the bearing with a small amount of light high pressure grease. Then replace the clutch housing and turn the nut in the opposite direction you used to take it off with your fingers until it is snug - then use the impact wrench in a very short burst to tighten the nut. Finally replace the clutch housing and/or bar and chain.

For a casual user this should only have to be done once a year as good quality chain oil can get into this area and provide some lubrication.
