Yes, if you're good with a soldering iron. From the sounds of it the dc power jack has come loose and fallen out or fallen further back into game system. If this is the case, then you may be able to resolder it back into place, or (if the jack is ruined) replace it - as long as the points on the mainboard of the system weren't damaged when it came loose from the board. You can find replacement jacks on ebay.

I have replaced the hinge on my daughters DS Lite and put it all back together (didn't realise it would be quite so in depth!). I've tried charging it from the car (as have lost the indoor charger) and...

It sounds like the connections at the hinge either are damaged or are not reconnected properly. You might try taking it apart again to make sure you didn't miss a connection, and if that doesn't work I'd contact Nintendo or a third-party repair center to see about getting it repaired professionally.

Nintendo DS Lite - does not charge

i would suggest trying to find what the issue is, if you know anyone who has a different charger, try it on your daughter's ds. if it still doesn't work, it's a DS problem...if it's under warranty, go to whatever store you bought it at and have them fix or replace it. If you try the different charger and it DOES work, then the only problem is the charger...so then all you have to do is go buy a new charger...hope this helps.

Charger socket broken

That little black thing goes into the charger so without it, or something to replace it, you can not charge, unless you somehow found a way to take out the battery and charge it outside of the ds. I would highly recommend sending it back to Nintendo or something like that.

Bluesbelle,

Are we talking here about a DS or a DS Lite?

DS LITE

Ok, then is either that both chargers you used are faulty, or more likely there is a contact in the power charger socket on your nintendo. check it it is moving or not well in place, eventually you will need to chaeck the contacts of charger socket on board inside the DS, the contact must be near there. Until you do not fix it, connecting the charger may be dangerous for your DS .

HELP!...need to fix L2 black box to the motherboard in a Nintendo DS lite

My daughter's friend had the same problem. Soldering was difficult, but repaired the problem.
I used a very fine solder and 15W soldering gun, both from Radio Shack.
