Question about Toshiba Satellite Pro M15-S405 Notebook

1 Answer

Fan issue David, I am having the same problem with the fan. Did fix it? If yes, how did you get the key board off, do you really have to take out every skrew on the bottom of the laptop? Also where did you get another fan for the Toshiba Satellite Pro M15-S405. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Infrequently, the fan (noise comes from the back left corner near the fan port) gets very loud, as if the bearings are loose. I shut the computer off ASAP and turn it back on after a minute and it is quiet again. It may run quietly for a day or a week or two, but, the noise eventually returns. A repair shop is asking for the standard $89 initial fee plus parts and whatever else to fix. Hoping for a better solution. Also, the LCD has a couple of bad pixels with 1/4" to 1/2" diameter fuzzy areas. And, 1 of the 2 memory slots is bad. So, my ideal solution here might be to find a unit with a bad HD that someone wants to dump for a reasonable price. Anyway, the fan problem may force my hand at any moment, so, a fan replacement/solution is being considered. Thanks to all, ~~~^^^larry^^^~~~

    Been there, done that.

    Need to do it again!

Found the thread looking for another fan.

Yes you have to open it up pretty much all the way. I suggest a bunch of small labeled containers for the screws and pictures when you get into the layers under the keyboard to assist in reassemble.

It isn't easy but it is doable.

Here is a disassembly guide for your laptop:

Not every screw is required to be removed to take out the keyboard but to replace a fan you most likely will have to since the machine needs to be entirely opened up.

Yes I have a DP 50749 sanyo plasma tv 50 inch the green power led comes on for 20 seconds goes off. then it sounds like relay on the main power board starts a clicking noise Then it stops clicking...

This is likely a heat issue, and the CPU of the tuner is instructing the power board to switch it off for reasons related to over heating. Check that a fan ventilation improves the problem. The solution is not easy but maybe adding a fan to the tuner CPU can fix this issue.

Do you have to replace the board upon replacement of the compressor fan?

Yes it will be needed to prevent damage to either the new fan motor or the motherboard. These models are costly and better avoided if possible to replace the refrigerator with a model that does not have electronic control parts, Sea Breeze

Would any one be able to get a part #, cost for the regulator, for my Panasonic SA-CH94M? I believe this is the culprit with the F61 error code. Thanks!

the F61 error on panasonic home theatres can mean 1 of 4 things, its either you have the wrong speakers plugged into the wrong port (yes apparently this matters check correct speaker placement), the fans are not working at all or working poorly (simply clean with circuit board cleaner or replace fan you may have 1 or 2) if none of the above then you have the worst one wich is one of your power amplifier IC chips somewhere on the main circuit board has died (good luck fixing that one) obviously varies from model to model this is based on th SA-HT545 and the SA-PT450. Sometimes a new HDMI cable will solve this issue.

If the cables are good, then the easiest possible fix would be to clean or replace the rear electric fan. I had the same problem and after replacing the fans my unit works like new. I called panasonic to order the fans because these type of fans you can not buy out of any store. The rear fan is also an upgrade to a better bigger fan. Part numbers are: L6FAJCCH0007 $19.12 (side fan) RFKZHT540E $28.35 (Rear fan) total shipped to me was $61.43.

Happy Holdays! Dont forget the feedback! Thanks!

Fan will not work

Sound like the blower motor is bad. They have a high and a low speed it is probaly hooked up to low speed not high. The only way to tell if it is the motor or the board is to see if you can change motor wiring on the board. If the board is bad you will need the make, model# and serial# of furnace. You should be able to call a local heating and cooling company and they will be able to get you a control board or a blower motor. You can also check counity on motor windings is the low speed is out. Have you checked the start compasator on the motor

Fan stopped working then globe and remote stopped

Hi there

Yes, unfortunately it is another common fault, sad really lol
The remote not working could be due to the little remote sensor board that you will have seen when taking it apart (I have a service manual if you would like it), do any of the buttons on the unit itself work that you know of?
The bulb not lighting issue can be a number of things, usually a safety wise. When you replaced the fan, what were the specifications of the fan you used? Usually computer fans differ slightly to the ones used in this model, and can cause them to fail and the unit to over heat. If the projector switches on for a bit and then turns off, it means the safety thermostat in it is cutting out preventing overheating, you could try bypassing it just to see if the bulb will ignite. I know it may sound a bit dumb but check the safety switch on the door is fully in?
If you would like the service manual I could send it to you, I found it very helpful with mine, also a forum, I think AVS was extremely helpful aswell.

Sorry if this doesn't help, I will look into it further

Fan inop

Hi there.

The problem is not with the fan its the main controller board, that for some reason becomes faulty with these models and stop supplying the fan with sufficient voltage to operate, not really worth fixing because locating one is hard enough and then the part costs $578 (as quoted for my one). What I have just finished doing to mine, is hard wiring an old nokia charger (transformer) inside the projector, connecting it to the underside of the power supply board (to the 240V inlet plug) which supplies the fan with its own power supply thus fixing the problem without spending hundreds. The down side to this is the fan will keep spinning as long as the projector is plugged in (could be fixed with a switch). This isn't even an issue for me because I always unplug it when I'm finished with it anyways, and it allows the bulb to be cooled for a lot longer than the factory set time, and also saving me from spending thousands on a new projector haha =), hope this help in some way or another.
