In order to diagnose the problem I need your help.

Have you hooked the dish receiver directly into a tv or another device and had it working?

Have you tried a different cable at all?

Have you tried pressing the ant. button on the remote or tv/vcr button?

Please update me with as much info as possible and I will figure out where the problem is coming from. thanks

Hi joe holmes, my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network and withconnecting the VCR to the DISH receiver you will want to make sure the VCR ison the channel for the DISH receiver. I will send a link that will help withthese steps; http://www.dishnetwork.com/supportsection/receiver-to-tv2

I have Dish network. I want to record TV onto the VCR, but cannot get channels to record. i can playback videotapes and the record works, but cannot figure out how to get the signal to record.

The output of the Dish Network box should be hooked to the input of the VCR.
The output of the VCR should be hooked to the input of the TV.
The VCR should be on channel 3 to record. Select channel to be recorded on the Dish Network box.

It sounds like you have Dish Network box output hooked to TV input.
& VCR output hooked to an aux. input on the TV.

I am on dish network, how do i hook up vcr to tv

What does Dish have to do with VCR?

Hook VCR to an input on the TV.
Most likely it will be with a coax cable or a three wire - video / audio harness.

Is Model Philips/Magnavox VRA631AT22 HDTV Ready

I am not absolutely positive, but I do not think you will be able to get ANY TV after the transition without a converter box, unless you hook up to cable or a dish. IF your Tv were able to get HD, it would say so on the set...

I live w/ a son & DIL and we have Direct TV so we can already get HD programs, but since none of our sets are High DEF we do not get them IN high Def.... I also have two small TVs,- one in the spare bedroom and one in my computer/ library... both of those are hooked up with old fashioned antannae..[ I also have a VCR hooked up to each]. I have added a converter box to each and can already get more stations than I did before and the picture is better,
although it is NOT in High Definition; You have to have a High Definition TV to get programs in that foremat, although you can get a GOOD program; so it was worth the small amount I paid for the boxes... I got the Government discount coupons so they were reasonable...

Last week one of the local 'Best Buy' stores advertised the converter boxes for as low as $9.99 w/ the coupon... I think the Gov'mt has run out of funds, however.

I hope this answers your question...

Sharp VCR hooked up to cable tv, i/p to vcr then out to tv.

I believe that I have the solution to that problem... When you are hooked up to cable or dish and use a VCR, you MUST have the program you wish to tape playing on the Cable or dish program, therefore the VCR needs to be tuned to channel 3 or 4 {whichever is the unused channel in your area) I believe that all you have to do is make sure that the TV is tuned to the channel you wish to tape and program the VCR to Channel 3 (at my area) or channel 4.

I hope this works for you. I have VCRs hooked up to all my sets and this is how mine work.
