How do I fix the key pad of a Kenmore microwave model 401.80084700?

I don't know of anyway to repair the keypad. Usually replacement (of the keypad/control console) is the only option. But you might want to remove the ribbon cable that connects the keypad to the control board behind it, clean it with a degreaser (like Fantastic or 409), dry it, and re-insert it, and then try again. (Remember to unplug the microwave oven first before you try that!)

Why is my microwave model 60609 making extremely loud noise and not heat?

Usually that is a sign that your magnetron tube has gone bad (shorted out).

Food in microwave is burning on edge and cold in the center

you may find the old unit was lower watts so took longer & cooked/heated better all the way through. a way to fix this is lower temp settings or pause and stir the food to help heat it up more even.

Microwave arced, wont heat now

I'm assuming that it doesn't microwave either. If it does...then the heater is bad. Sears parts sells them. Second guess is a blown fuse or thermosensor. Inside the pad housing, locate the internal fuse and replace it if blown. The thermosensor is a black plastic bit about the diameter of a dime and 3/8 inch thick and clamped to the side of the unit inside the control area. Test it for continuity and replace if open. If not either of these, then you have power supply issues or control panel problems. My bet: the heater blew out. Often, this is caused when you heat greasy foods.
