I get a buzzing noise from the control knob. It doesn't do it all the time, and if I hit it real hard, it'll stop (yes, I'm a chick). I think it's the timer, but I don't know how to get to it. I just replaced the "cam/dog ears" this morning. If the timer's just as easy, I'll try that by myself, too. (BTW-I refered to this site on how to get the top and bottom agitators apart, after removing the bolt-THX!)

I TURN ON THE POWER AND SELECT A WASH CYCLE AND ALL I GET IS A HUMMING SOUND.

Hi Jo - Often when a unit is making a humming noise, it is because the unit cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Either the drainage hose or pump may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, the washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, faulty pump, timer or control board not communicating correctly. Because it could be a number of any one of several underlying causes, I would recommend contacting a professional to properly diagnose and repair the unit.

Even humming sound made when washer starts continous

Most likely a motor or solenoid has a loose coil or its magnetic field is vibrating a nearby piece of steel. If it hums all of the time except when the washer is filling, it is the timer or main motor. If it hums only when the washer is filling, it is one of the water valves (you can isolate by selecting hot or cold instead of warm for one of the cycles).

The timer motor is on the control panel right behind the cycle select knob. The main motor is under the tub. If the main motor is humming, it may be overloaded, but in that case, the humming should diminish as the motor gets up to speed.

Kenmore washer model 12502100 goes into rinse cycle fills with water turns then stops. won't drain just stops hear humming or buzzing noise.

Try to put it on rinse on another cycle, like normal, heavy duty or delicate. If it works, then your timer is probably bad. If it doesn't work then maybe the pump. Best of luck

HI, this timer mechanism is damaged, and i recommend the replacement of this defective timer control module asap. it can be accessed by removing the cover that is located behind the control panel. the timer is screwed onto the panel from the backside.

replacing this timer control module will correct this issue.

Washing machine makes buzzing noise

Check the water pump for an obstruction in the chamber area, your pump may be sticking and that will cause the buzzing sound. The water pump runs during the fill portion of the cycle on several of the selected wash cycles to recirculate the water.
