Open Question

Liebherr 7082 312-01 - temp of freezer overnight dropped to -9 from -18. Fridge temp is also floating around 9 to 5. They should be -18 and 5. Is this the thermostat? Fridge/freezer is nearly 5 years old.

SOURCE: Indesit fridge freezer (2 years old) not getting cold

if compressor is running, then you are correct in saying no point in replacing stat. by sounds of it you have a faulty compressor fault or a syatem fault - impossible to dignose by remotely. this is not a diy job i'm afraid

Try these solutions in these order:
1. Switch off the fridge and leave the door open overnight. Switch it back on in the morning.
Explanation: The sensor inside the fridge gets frozen and cannot control the temperature properly.
2. Switch off the fridge. Unplug it. At the back of the fridge (behind the unit, not inside) there is a large grid. Clean it with a hoover thoroughly. Open the fridge. Dry the back of the fridge if wet (inside the fridge). If frosted wait for it to defrost and then dry it. Plug in the fridge. Switch the fridge back on. This one worked for me.
Explanation: The dust in the grid deprives the fridge from cooling down and the unit can't control the temperature in the fridge section.
3. Switch off the fridge. -Unplug it. Empty it. Turn it upside down. Plug it in. Switch it on for 24 hours. Switch it off. Unplug, return to normal and switch on.
Explanation: This has to do with the pressure of the gas inside the compressor. I have not tried it but this advice as given to me by a qualified electrician when I commented the (in)famous F2 problem in Liebherr fridge/freezers.
Hope it helps. Regards. Albert

Their are no direct connections between the number and the temperatures on refrigerators and freezers. Is is based on surrounding temperature, in the room. That is the reason they used numbers and do not mark teperatures.

Freezer is working but refrigerator is not

My Maytag (side by side) had a similar problem, turns out to be the damper door. The freezer does the cooling, there's a damper door between the fridge and freezer that opens and closes to control fridge temp. Find the damper door and prop it open. If the fridge temp drops overnight, you'll need a new damper ***'y.

Fridge will not turn down

How to check everything
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

This sounds like moisture in being sucked in past the door seals. Remember, cold-- sucks temperature, (like a vacuum) and HEAT--- pumps away temperatures..So the warmer temp. are always being drawn in.. Thus, bad door seals, and need to be replaced --- cleanned---or repaired, but for now turn your thermostat or temperature up or the control knob back lower, (like from 7--to 5--ect. ect 4-to 2..)!
