Cd changer is reading cd's as BAD

I put my cd's in changer and I hear it working, but on the control panel it says Disc 1 trac 1 then says BAD. It then switches to the next cd and does the same thing all the way through.
It is in a 2002 Mercury Sable LS Premium.

    Hi there!

    I'll try and help you.

    1. Is it reading the cd before?

    2. Have you tried different cds?

You need to reset the CD player. Remove the front panel and you will see a tiny hole in the middle of the panel of the unit mounted in the dash (i.e. without front panel). Gently push a ball point pen or pin in to press the reset switch.

No power at the 6 disc cd changer? Cable has power.

Have you checked to see if the there is a blown fuse? Check to make sure of that first. If it is good then the only reason for it not working is the CD changer motor is fried. Do you ever smell anything burnt or hear any noises when you connect it? If you do hear anything but it wont power on, then its bad. hope this helps

I can not hear any audio

If you have the correct head unit, and assuming the cable is in good condition, the it should work. Although I do remember some Pioneers needed Permanent 12V+ and ground hooked up in order to work. If this is one of those, on the changer side there should be another white plug next to the changer cable with two or three wires in it. This should be the power feed wirs for the changer. I need more info to confirm.

Changer does not work

Had the same problem!! Found the solution here under "Wont Play" question. Push that cd chngr magazine (holder) all the way into the unit and tap with a blunt object( Dont tap too hard,it's plastic!!) screw driver worked for me! Push the eject button and you'll hear the unit working! Pop it in and out and it seemed to unfreeze whatever was frozen!! It finally loaded a cd and started playing again. I checked all 6 and they were okay!!

Thanks support guys for your help!!

I believe thats an fm modulated changer. Need to make sure you put it on the correct freq. The one I had needed to be on fm 89.1 or 89.5 to work. Hope this helps.
