Satellite 4100xcdt hdd prob

I HAVE A TOSHIBA SAT 4100XCDT.WHEN I TURN IT ON AND TRY TO PUT WIN O/S ON IT IT TELLS ME THERE IS NO HARD DRIVE.ON THE BIOS PAGE WHERE IT SAYS HARD DISKMODE IT SAYS NOT USED!IS THIS A TERMINAL PROB OR IS THERE A SOLUTION?

I think you've problem with harddisk.Try to use the other new harddisk to test first.

When I turn the laptop on (L350) the screen starts with the "Toshiba leading innovation" page then is blank- dark grey. It does not respond to any keys including F2/F12

The laptop can not detect the hard drive please remove the hard drive and then reseat it if the problem persist then replace the hard drive.

You have to go to BIOS setup, find HDD setup, and change the value to the other one (there are only two possibilities). That will fix your problem. The problem is caused by the fact that the lap top was designed for vista, not XP. and the lap top contains SATA HDD. when installing XP pre-installation doesn't have SATA drivers, so your OS can not see the HDD. Change it in BIOS, and you trouble is gone

yes it is Wireless Compatible" ie external wireless car" it doesnt have an internal wireless card

Cant boot


If you are sure no one has tampered with it and entered a HDD password and it is not prompting for a password then it is most likely a HDD failure. It is possible the BIOS will still recognize the HDD. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDD if you can access it there should be screws on the bottom marked with a cylinder symbol.

r u check settings in bios
for harddrive there its showing or not in bios otherwise first try to configure the harddisk then try for hardware part

Cannot Detect Hard drive Winxp On Toshiba Satelite L200


Hi ,
u can not detect HDD during installing win-xp coz in u r laptop u have SATA hard drive.
to detct hdd in setup u want to make sata netive mode diseble in COMS setup

Plz check COMS thereis sata netive mode is available ....
