Have prob wit cb radio

I have a Wuiden(madison) corp base station. When i first hooked it up to my Halcon 22ft base anntena it worked greast. I could hear a frien from far away at the same db with no prob. Then one ay i tunred it on and couldnt hear ne one. I got my friend to talk on radio he was very very very faint usually even with the notice i could hear him it was like he tuned his power down but he didnt. I also notcied that i used to be able to be heard from far a way. For example it is 10 blocked from my house to my friend. We both a abase station. From that distane i dont care what the noise level is we should have no prob. But i try to talk he says i cant pull u in sounds like ur far far away when im only 10 blocks. Nothing has been changed setting wise on my radio. I also noticed that if i listen very very closly to my speaker i get feed back i know that could be n e thing like bad coax short in anntena which should not happened because its new but that dont matter i know.if its not anntena, it could be my mic if not that what could it be.

I doubt it is your radio I more think it's in your antenna or coax .First thing I'd do is check the connections because you said it's new if they used crimp on PL 259's I would cut them off and solder on some good ones . Then start checking out the antenna for loose connections Oh and buy the way if you have good solder on PL 259's that does'nt mean they are'nt the problem I've seen alot of bad solder jobs.Good Luck I hope this helped a little.

Most technicians will tell you that 90% of CB problems are either in the microphone or antenna system*.

Of course, make sure you are tuned to the correct frequency and mode of operation, and that your RF Gain control is turned fully clockwise before trying to troubleshoot further.

I WOULD CHECK THE COAX CONNECTION @ THE ANT HAVE SOMEONE MOVE THE WIRE AT THE ANT CONNECTION WHILE YOU LISTEN INSIDE IF THERE A LOOSE GROUND YOU WILL HEAR IT ON THE RECEIVER SIDE.. ALSO CHECK YOUR MATCH WITH AN SWR METER.. DON'T TRUST THE ONE ON THE RADIO IF YOU HAVE ONE GOOD LUCK

Why no modulation in transmit mode?

Without seeing it I would guess (and it's only a guess) that maybe you have a broken microphone wire. If it's a factory mic the most common place for it to break is right up from the mic plug. Factory cords are not flexible, their really stiff. We could really use some more information. Mike

Dose it work good like i live in a prtty good nabor hood dose it get good distance will it conect withe other bigger cb radios

Typically, this type of handheld has a useful range of approximately 1-2 miles. This distance will be increased with other radios being mobiles and base stations. Distances of 5 miles is possible if the other person has a good base station antenna. I would not expect much from the stock rubber ducky antenna.

so what your asking then if you can increase the signal strength so I goes farther? If so then you can go to any radio shack and buy a signal booster that hooks up through the anntena line.

Low sound on incoming

Have you checked your squelch control? try turning it completly counter clockwise this should un-squelch your receiver and increase the sound, however this might also be a sign of poor reception which would indicate a bad anntena, poor grounding or coaxial cable. Check and or replace these items before continuing. If replacing these do not help your situation then the unit itself has a problem. I would suggest that you take it to a radio repair shop and get the work done by a professional, since there are not user serviceable parts in the device.
