SOURCE: threading a sewing machine

What do you mean you are unable to pull the bobbin thread through, elaboration would help solve the problem...
I suspect I'm having the same problem with you if it's anything to do with the top thread looping around in the bobbin holder.

Damn machine!

SOURCE: Bobbin thread breaks

Things to check for thread breakage (top or bottom)

1. Good thread in the machine - not hand thread, cheap thread, quilting thread.
2. A burr on the hook - a small nick on the hook can grab and tear threads, however this usually causes the top thread to tear, not the bottom
3. Make sure a new needle is in the machine - one made for the material you are sewing
4. The bobbin must be installed to rotate in the correct direction in your bobbin case
5. And I'll say it anyway - tensions - the primary cause of thread breaking - Remember, there are TWO tensions in a sewing machine, top and bottom. Also, the thread you see on the bottom of the stitch is the top thread, and vice-versa.

SOURCE: need help to thread our sewing machine.

you really must get a manual for this machine.
You can find manuals online for a small price.
At one time some sites had them for free, but I haven't been able to find many recently. sewusa.com has some older ones for free. but not many. you could try the kenmore site as well, if not I'd try to search on dogpile.com (sewing machine manuals)
Just so you know, your manual is the MOST important tool for any sewing machine, and its worth a couple of bucks to get it.

Bobbin thread cluming up

Make sure you have a tight wind on the bobbin, and it is free and clear of any lose threads. Also if replacement bobbin make sure the size is right for machine model. To thin of one causes them to bounce up and down putting tension on thread as it is sewing.

The bobbin thread keeps getting all tangled. i have cleaned it all out several times but when i start sewing again it does it again...what am i doing wrong?

try changing the needle
rethread the machine top & bobbin
make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly in the bobbin case
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way inside the case
make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever,
if it has, try putting some tape over the thread take up lever, but
make sure to leave a whole to get the thread thru

Bobbin shuttle

1. Clean shuttle with your sewing machine brush to remove old broken threads, lint, and sweep out the feed dogs carefully. 2. Rethread making sure you have the handwheel turned toward you, all the way up. 3. Lift presser foot up BEFORE you put thread front to back in eye needle. 4. Set machine on straight stitch sewing. Attach straight stitch foot if necessary. 5. Make sure 5-6 inches of thread are pulled toward you from threaded needle. 6. Pull up bobbin thread. 7. Pull 5-6 inches of bobbin thread and put it, along with needle thread under presser foot. 8. Put fabric scrap under presser presser foot and LOWER it now. Make sure, too, that the needle is correct size for fabric you're sewing. 9. Do a test. You may need to set tension at 4, stitch length at about 4 and width at 6. Just test it and adjust tension in very, very short turns. Another tip: Put one drop of good quality sewing machine oil on the hook, lower left-hand side. Make sure when you thread bobbin in the bobbin case to hold bobbin between thumb and forefinger and pull out about 4 inches of thread after you make sure thread unwinds top left (if you are right-handed!). Guide the thread into the slot in edge of bobbin case (screw sits on top of this "edge". Pull thread under tension spring and then into the delivery eye. Never panic, my friend! Try this and see if this helps. You should probably insert new needle too--just in case "old" one bent. Jimmy

Needle won"t stay threaded

that use to happen to me on my sewing machines, I would rethread the machine to make sure the thread is not caught on anything like the thread spool, or around anyone of the thread guides

also for both top & bottom threads, I keep a thread tail of 3 to 6 inches & before I start sewing I pull the thread behind the needle to the back of the machine & the I put the fabric under the foot & start sewing & now I don't have that problem anymore

My consew 230 sewing machine is not holding the thred on the needle. every time i thred the needle and step on the paddle to sew, the needle comes back out unthred, please help.

before starting to sew
1.make sure the top thread & bobbin thread have a thread tail of 3 to 6 inches
2.make sure the thread tails are pulled behind the needle toward the back of the machine

then put the fabric under the presser foot to sew

when your finished with the seam, after the thread is cut from the fabric,, leave the thread tail the same as above before starting to sew again

Hi I have threaded the machine several times and the thread keeps snapping as soon as I start sewing. I've re-threaded the bobbin and replaced the needle and it still continues to go wrong. Help!

You may still be threading the machine wrong.

Do you have the manual to look at. If you still think that everything is threaded right. Try looking at the spool of thread, on every spool there is a small slice to hold the thread when not in use. Make sure when you put the thread on the spool holder, put the slice side on first so that it is torward the back, Also when you put the spool cover on make sure it is not to big or small for the spool.

After all this;
After threading the machine and ready, before you begin to sew, lift the foot up with the lever and pull the threads from under the needle they should pull freely, if either the top or bottom thread feel tight you can tell which thread is getting caught on something. Re-check the threads.

Also make sure that the thread is going through the tension disks correctly, they go between the dsks not behind, if this machine has the down and around the tension make sure it is done right.

Hope this helps

How do i thread the handy stitch sewing machine

Its easier to use the included threader from Japan its the key shaped thing, put the thin wire loop in at the front of the needle then put the thread through the loop at the back and then pull thorugh you will need to make sure at least 2 inches of thread is flying.

N.B.. Make sure that the thread is through the tensioner otherwise your stitches will be loose.

I have a singer cg 550 sewing machine and I am not sure which slot to put the bobbin thread in first

If you put the bobbin in the case with the thread coming off in a clockwise direction, the thread should just fall into a slot and gently tug on the thread and it will slide through the tensions. Lay it across the bobbin case and then pick up the thread with the needle.

My sewing machine doesn't catch the bottom thread

Make sure that the bobbin thread is correctly threaded. If you have taken the shuttlecock out to clean make sure that it has been put back in correctly check manual to make sure it has been installed correctly. Next if neither one of those items are the problem, watch the needle and see if it is going down far enough to catch the bobbin thread.

Try a new needle, making sure it is put in properly. A bent needle can break thread. Make sure top tension is set properly.
