There may be something in the tensioners. Try to clean between the tension discs with a business card. Maybe this will help

On a Singer Quantum 9940, the upper thread will not 'catch' the bobbin thread. What should I try to do?

Make sure that your needle is all the way up. With many needle clamps, loosening it enough to remove a needle is not enough to insert one -- you have to loosen it a little bit more. You can determine that by looking right above the clamp on the shaft -- there is what looks like a grey bar and the end of the needle should be right under it. If your needle is too low, it will not catch the thread.

Bobbin thread keeps catching under the plate

Your needle may be new, but Is needle correct size for fabric you are sewing? If so, is needle all the way up as far as it will go in needle bar shaft, flat side in back & more rounded side facing you? Stretch knits and wovens, denims, and leather do not use same needle size. Jimmy

Singer quantum futura ce200 - thread breaks

The needle thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

I have recently bought Singer Quantum 9940 and I am not happy with the stitch. For zigzag stitch, I can see too much of the upper thread on the bottom side. This happens unequally: more on the right hand...

1. Make sure your needle is correct for the fabric. Go buy some good needles in several sizes. You'll need a 90 for jeans, rounded points for fine fabrics... get a few sizes. Your manual should provided you with clues to the right needle for the fabrics. (BTW... there really is no such thing as a Universal Needle... toss it.)

2. Re-read your manual and carefully follow the instructions on threading the bobbin and the upper thread...

3. Check your tension on the upper thread... it is too loose for the application. The tension on the bottom thread is handled by a spring on your bobbin case or race. If you do not have that threaded properly you'll have problems. Same with the direction the bobbin turns... have in it backwards... problems.

Barring all these things... It might be time for a qualified Singer repair person to look at it. Sadly Singer has seriously lowered it's standards in the last 20 years.

Stopping at midstitch while free motion quilting.

did you try cleaning the drive area of the machine? you may have a lot of buildup of dust, thread, fabric, etc. that nay be interferring with the mechanical drive. You might have to remove the cover to get to the inside to clean. Use a small computer vac to clean up and a small dry paint brush to clean parts. Or get a professional cleaning.

This error indictaes that the upper thread is broken. If it is not the sensor is telling the computer the thread is broken. Try tightening the upper thread tension some and rethread the upper thread.

Electronic alert keeps coming on but the machine is running fine?

Try replacing the needle. it may be just ever so slightly bent. You can not tell. causing more downforce on the machine.
