Question about Toshiba 50H82 50" Rear Projection Television
Okay, I have a convergence problem with my televison. I know this because I had a projection television before I bought this one adn the same thing happened. It was working fine until this morning and then when I came home for lunch, the bottom half of the picture was messed up. I turned the TV off until I got home and the picture was the same. The red and the blue appear to be fine, but the green is wacked. I called a repair man and he said it would cost 600 dollar to fix it over the phone. Is there anyway to pin point the problem or a way for me to fix it myself? I have a problem with my Toshiba 50H82 Rear projection TV. About 3 weeks ago, the picture was real shaky and out of focus for about 10-15 minutes then it cleared up. The strange thing was that if you split the screen in two, (with the picture in picture function that this set has,) the screen on the right (with no sound,) was perfectly fine,,, Then, about 3 days ago, in addition to this problem, it looks like the Blue projector, is out of focus and bent toward the middle of the screen, It is like a rectangle of blue overcast on the picture, but bent in the middle, with an arc on the top and bottom, like it was squeezed in the middle. The Auto Focus function gives an error when it gets to the blue, and the controls for a manual convergence do not work on the blue. You can adjust the Red but not the blue. What is the problem, and is it fixable? If it is fixable, what is it likely to cost? I purchased this TV from Best Buy and have been very happy with it so far and would rather fix it if it costs much less than another TV. Please let me know if you have a solution, Thanks!
My rear projection tv when watching tv it pushes everything to the middle so, your getting smaller screen but when its on the blue it is showing in full. What could be wrong with it ? It only started doing this, this morning.

I had the same problem so after reading this, bought the STK392-110's. My son and I replaced them and this completely fixed the problem. You could even see where they were burnt out on the circuit board.
It takes someone who knows how to do electronic soldering but the servicemanuals website was very helpful and emailed me instructions. I spent $40 on this repair when it could have cost me much much more.
