Check to see if it is on proper time of day, if not the timer/drive motor may be bad. If it is a metered system make sure the meter cable is plugged in to meter and in back of timer assembly. Turn the large black knob in front (if mechanical valve) if it turns very hard or does not move the main piston is frozen up and should be replaced.

Aquafine Sensimatic will generate manually but not automatically

I am not familiar with this brand. If it is not regenerating automatically that usually indicates it is not metering the gallons/usage (there should be flow indicator FLASHING on the control board) or the programming was reset to factory specs causing unit to not regenerate often enough and running out of capacity. If you can post a picture of the unit it will help.

Hi, power was lost in the house about 4 weeks ago for 11 hours, the fleck 5600 has not done a regeneration cycle since. I check the power to it. Not using any salt. System is around 1 year old. Any...

On the Fleck 5600 the timer motor also serves as the drive motor. It is on the back side of the control in the upper left hand corner. Reset the time of day and see if it keeps proper time. If not the timer motor needs to be replaced. If the control is an sxt model the circuit board may be bad from a power surge.

Have a fleck 5600 water softener timer (not economider) dont understand the setting of the days of week when there is 12 pointers on the skipper wheel?

The 12 day wheel is used primarily so that the unit does NOT regenerate on the same day of the week, every week.
There is a 7 day wheel available for this valve so if you irrigate on specific days, and you need it to cycle on specific days, you have the ability to do it without the softener cycling at the same time as watering schedule.

When should i manually regenerate the fleck 5600 system?

If this unit does not cycle on it's own, you can cycle it manually anytime you won't be using water for about 2 hours, or if it's a time clock, one that has a fixed day schedule, and you have extra guests using water, you can perform a manual cycle to help regain capacity.

Where to put the salt? and how to flush it? thank you wg844

Dump the salt in the separate brine tank. Always keep salt/brine tank at least half full. If you want to run a manual regeneration push the regen button. For delayed regeneration (2am) push once, for immediate regeneration push twice.

Water Softener won't regenerate

mmmm.

I see they charge for a user manual!

I am not familiar with this controller. Is there a manual overide - a large screwdriver slot on the frint of the main shaft?

If so, you should try turning that (clockwise) to the next position and see if the moter will drive it from there. If not, then take it right through 360 degrees, one step at a time.

If it does not work on the next cycle then you may have to replace the controller.

Our water softener regenerated last night...this morning the faucet water tasted like salt...do you know why???

sure if it's a reverse osmosis the valve was plugged so when you added salt it slugged the system after being empty. Common problem for this system.

Timer ticking but backwash will not back wash and clock frozen

It is very common for the main and brine pistons of the Fleck 5600 to need replacement after 5 - 10 years of use. The valve will get stuck trying to complete a regeneration cycle. Very often this occurs at the beginning of the "brine rinse" cycle. The timer motor may stop at this point also. The motors are made to stop instead of forcing the valve ( which would result in gear damage ).
The solution is to replace the main piston ( # 60102-00 for water softeners ) and the brine valve piston assembly ( # 60032 ). If the valve is on a chlorinated water source or over 10 years old, it is recommended to replace the main piston seals ( # 60125 ) at the same time.
On rare occasions the timer motor may also need to be replaced. But try the pistons replacement first, this usually does the trick.
There are detailed instructions for replacement including a video here.
