Hello,

welcome to FixYa.

Based on you description of the timer not advancing I initially suspect the thermostat isn't satisfied when heating the water. This could be caused by a faulty flow switch, NTC or heater as well but not likely.

The SHU 30** series Bosch dishwashers with a mechanical timer have very few if any, issues with the actual timer or element but they do with the thermostat within the door panel.

If it ( the thermostat ) is not satisfied the water may heat but not be indicated via the thermostat, hence timer will not advance.

Here`s what you can try. If you have any hesitation or reluctance to service this yourself please call in an authorized B/S/H/ appliance technician.

**Turn off the breaker at the service panel before attempting any service suggested **

  1. You will require a #20 torx screwdriver to remove the door panel by taking out the screws around the panel, except the ones along the top ( watch the edges they are very sharp )

  2. Once the panel is removed you should see the thermostat over by the detergent dispenser clipped to the inner door, remove it and test it. You`ll need a ohm meter/multi-meter plus a lighter or match to heat it up to see if it open`s & closes.
Example...

**NOTE** it can occur the thermostat can become loose and detach from the bracket which holds it in place, this too can manifest in the sysmptom of the timer not advancing.

Let me know how you make out and what you find.

Thank you for choosing FixYa and Good luck.

    Hello again,

I think at first I misunderstood your post. Here's what I would look for after understanding your post...The dishwasher won't do anything.
I would suspect a poor line connection at the junction box where the power enters the dishwasher, ( sometimes the wire nuts/murrets come loose and burn up ) or a broken wire in the door panel at the point it bends as the door opens & closes is common as well...based on what you've described.

Let me know by posting a reply what you find and what you meant. **Make sure the breaker is OFF before attempting any repairs** I'll try and assist you if need be. Good luck

My top dishwasher drawer won't finish through the cycle. It runs fine on rinse only but not any of the wash cycles. It stops mid cycles, beeps like it has been paused, then tries to start again

Try to feel the temperature of water inside the dishwasher. If it is normal room temperature for the hot wash cycles then it is likely the heater is faulty.
It is not easy to replace unless you have good experience with repairing dishwashers.

Cycle starts, but does not fill with water

When I start a new cycle, I first hear the pump run to empty out all remaining water, and after that I hear the motor run for the regular washing cycle, but there is no water in the dishwasher. After a few minutes, the cycle stops, and the washer claims the dishes are 'clean'. When I try starting a new cycle over and over again, about one in 20 times, the cycle will run normally with water. But then the next time, the problem starts all over again. Once a cycle starts correctly, everything works fine, including the rinsing.

Does my Bosch SHU3032UC have a heat booster?

The dishwasher has a built in instantaneous water heater, so even if the water feeding the d/w is cold the machine will heat it the the temp required for the cycle you have choosen. Reducing the temp will not effect the wash quality at all, in fact having a lower temp or cold water filling the machine will make the drying cycle at the end of the program more effective.
Hope this helps, please leave feedback.

Dishwasher runs for appx 14 min & stops washing half way thru wash cycle. Timer contunies to run. No drain pump out (nothing). Let dishwasher set idle for appx 1 hour and it will re-set. Set timer...

This sounds like something is stuck in the drain pump. You can remove the inner cover to look for obstructions. You have a dual purpose motor it does the both circulating and draining. The blockage is causing it to overheat and trip the thermal protector. You can remove the drain assembly from underneath if you don't find anything from above. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that walks you thru most of this. It is a different model but pretty close. If you find no obstructions the motor may be failing.

Pour a gallon of white vinegar in bottom run halfway thru wash cycle turn off let unit sit overnight to properly soak-then run a couple of times to rinse out vinegar(vinegar dissolves calcium which causes unit to not function properly) also check unit inlet for contaminates and clean as neccesary install inline filter if not one there..(the hot water tank will tell if you have a calcium problem(hard water problem)shut off unit undo relief valve on tank hook up hose to bottom then drain check for white chunks),calcium wreaks havoc on all household appliances and shortens there lifespan!!! :)
