Green Pixelated Screen

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420, and the other day I was on the internet, and I don't know if I pushed a button or something, but now a lot of the pictured that are supposed to be black have turned green and pixelated. I tried restarting my computer, and that didn't help. Also when I restarted the computer before it went to the Windows page it was entirely green too. Any ideas?

I just tried system restore with no luck. I chatted with someone from Dell's customer support and he used remote access to take over my screen and try and fix it. It's still green so they are running a test and he is supposed to call me tomorrow.

Do you think it could be a problem with my screen?

I knew I should never have bought this crappy Toshiba and gone with a mac instead. I have green pixels that came and went but have come back even worse and nothing seems to fix it. Restoring system did nothing and from what Ive heard its more likely the motherboard which I assume is the death nell.

You can find diagrams to remove the keyboard (the video cable is under this keyboard).

First remove the battery and unplug the computer (after you shut it down ofcourse). Then tilt the screen all the way back to give you the most room to work with.

See where your media and power buttons are? on the very right of that piece there should be a notch. You can fit a screw driver (flat head) in here and pry the piece off. Don't worry it's supposed to do this. Slowly pull it out from right to left.

Under this piece you should see two screws above your keyboard. Remove these and TILT the keyboard up. Dont move it too far, we don't need or want to detach the keyboard. (Also be very careful with the keys, they can pop out.

Under the keyboard on the left will be a blue tag that is attached to your video cable. Pull the cable out and and plug it back in pressing firmly and evenly when reattaching it. Put the computer back together and you should be good!

Dell Inspiron 1420 switch off while on at Internet site and it will not start up again when pressing the on button.

you can first try to connect your laptop to an AC power source via the ac adapter, if it fails to charge the battery, then it must be your battery died. try a relacement dell inspiron 1420 battery, which usually lasts longer and is compatibale with your dell and costs much less than the original one!

a dell inspiron 1420 is a laptop you have put it under printers

im assuming your talking about a laptop

try charging your laptop or turning it on with the charger still attched to the laptop

if laptop does not turn on with the charger attached then either that the battery is dead and you need a new one or your laptop itself is gone

A line ppears on my dell inspiron 1420

A thin line across teh screen is an indicator that the LCD is bad. There's not anything short of replacing the screen that will resolve this issue.

I owned a Dell(inspiron 1420) touchpad is not functioning at all!

Try going into Control Panel, Mouse, Tapping and turn it all off.
Set the sensitivity to as low as you can.
The key combination should be Fn & F9, look for a button on the function row that has a finger pointing at a box :)

Dell Inspiron Screen Shake

sorry, can't tell you "no cost fix".

Either you've got a motherboard-screen cable failure(harsh, but not too bad) or you're
video card is fritzing. The green/grey line usually indicated a line break in a data line of the monitor cable. The fuzzy shaking is an indication that one of the sync signals may also be compromised.

To eliminate the video card as the problem... plug a monitor into the external video port, and see if the error is ghosted there.

If this doesn't work, Dell actually has some pretty good tools for you to use in troubleshooting it for yourself. The troubleshooter page begins here. There is a good video of using dell's built-in-to-laptops LCD screen test utility here.

Hope it helps you.
