A fiddly job to do but is possible. The key that has come off will have a clip attachment underneath, you need to remove it and fit it to the clips on the keyboard first. It will be in an X configuration so you need 2 very small screwdrivers (jewellers ones work well) to lift the "X" once connected to the keyboard and connect to one side of the key button.Once done on one side remove the screwdrivers and press down on the key button to click the other side in place.

I can't think of a better way to describe it. One of those " easy if you know how" things.

Power off the Acer laptop and flip the unit over. Slide the battery release lever over and lift the battery out of the laptop.

Turn the laptop back over and open the lid. If the plastic/hinges/clips are still on the keyboard, then place the key back on the keyboard, line it up with the other keys and press down on the key until it clicks in place.

How to replace a key that popped off

Ichand1958 is right, if its broken the no matter what you do it will not go on, but if he thinks installing a key is difficult, how you think the average user will be able to take apart the entire laptop to install a keyboard?? I think you should first try just fixing the key, often the new key will just snap right on. Have a look at and if that does not help, THEN take the laptop to a shop and have them install the ENTIRE keyboard.

Gateway notebook , broken key on keyboard

If you are able to, try and pop the key out of the keyboard with a flat-head screwdriver. Here's a guide on a generic Gateway. If there's no room in-between the keys, flip the computer off (while it's off) and see if there's screws in the back. This method concerns replacing the whole keyboard, and I'm not completely certain about how to do it. I'm sure google would help you out there.

Keyboard comma come off

First exam if the retainer clip have any missing legs, and the hooks in the back of the key cover are not bent or broken. If Any of the parts are broken, no matter what you do, you will not be able to put it back on. See the following link for more info, and if it is broken, I have found the to be very reliable source for replacement laptop keys. Hope this has been helpful.
