Ignition switch will not turn

Which ever direction the wheels are turned when you shut it off will have to be turned that direction when you try to turn ignion to on. Have a helper turn the wheel while you try to turn the key. It will be hard to turn steering wheel because engine is not running. It is stuck against the steering wheel lock.

I have a 95 camaro, I put the key in ignition and it will not turn the ignition. It's like it's stuck. Replaced the ignition module and still cannot turn ignition. Help!

the ignition module (ignition switch on top of the steering column) normally doesn't get stuck.

things you can try:
steering wheel lock: (the pin gets a "burr" on it and locks everything up) wiggle steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn key.

transmission lock (parking on an incline will jam up the interlock)
push the shifter farther into park while trying to turn the key, or wiggle shifter

The key is stuck in the ignition cant start. Thanks

Turn your steering wheel left or right side. If it moves, then good for you as the key will not be stuck anymore. But if doesn't, it probably means that locking system in the steering wheel is damaged. For this, you can just turn the steering wheel opposite to the direction of the car wheels. Most of the time, cars are turned off with the wheels turned on the opposite directions, which makes the key get stuck in the ignition due to pressure in the steering wheel. When the pressure is released from the steering column, a click can be heard and key is released.

If no luck, there might be a problem with shifter mechanism, which means that you have a trip to the repair shop in store for you. Get this problem addressed immediately, as it could mean that your shift interlock is out of order, which can increase the chances of deploying the air bag up in your face, causing a serious injury.

Possible transmission problem

Be sure the transmission is in neutral
Be sure your brake disc on the side of the transmission is not seized?
Grab both wheels at the same time and go forward or backward with them, transmission is not posi traction or live axle, only in racing modified mowers probably

Shaft coming out of transmission that clutch basket slide upon..it this suppose to free wheel while transmission is in gear...please help this is on a big dog k-9 motorcycle..6 speed baker transmission

Without clutch plates installed. The clutch basket inner is directly connected to the tranny input shaft- if you turn the inner clutch basket while in gear it should drive the rear wheel. The outer basket should spin freely regardless of gear selection and have no affect on the tranny.
The input shaft of the tranny itself ( the shaft the clutch basket slides on) should not free wheel when in gear.

2003 expedition replaced p/s pump and steering rack. it is still hard to initiate a turn in either direction regardless of speed

raise the truck up and turn the wheels left to right, you most likely have air in the lines.

Rear wheels will not turn. Worked fine when stored for the winter

Craftsman-Husky...same tractors-built in the same factory. I also had a problem with the hydrostatic transmission not providing power to the rear wheels. Here's what Sears told me:
(1) Check to make sure the drive belt is tight both under the engine-and the tranny.
(2) Air can get into the hydrostatic transmissions-especially during shipping (new mower) and storage.
So.....
Pull your freewheel pin out to disengage the tranny-then push the mower both forward and then backwards for 50' or so. Then push the freewheel pin back in and start the mower. If the transmission then works-drive forward-then backward-then forward repeating the cycle about 4 times. Drive about 50' in each direction. This should purge the air from the treansmission.

Direction ofrd windstar 2003

look under hood and look at the steering gear box. Thats the thing at the end of the steering column. It has a fiber plate that takes the vibrating out of the steering column It may be about tore in half or hanging on by one bolt instead of two.
God Bless Greg
