Have the manual. Cleaned the filter, which was not that dirty. Did not work. I guess I need to change the thermocouple next.

Have you tried cleaning out the inline water filter?
sometimes a good flushing will also do the trick. might have some scale buildup inside.

do you have the instruction manual? this will tell you exactly how to do it. if not, I might have one I can copy and send you.

    Great no thermocouple.

  • zandar3 Aug 25, 2010

these units don't have a thermocouple as a tank style would. that does leave a couple different items to check...
water flow sensor. is this working correctly. you would have to check with ohm meter. if you remove it, you can clean the tip off. sometimes this works, but not always.
gas valve, is the valve working correctly? is it getting enough gas?
also, has it ever been flushed? reccomended to be flushed once a year especially in areas with hard water. if you have hard water, you might think about a water softener.
did your instructions tell you the steps necessary to flush the unit? you need about 5 gallons of vinegar to flush thoroughly.

I don't like the Bosch, they seem to break down a lot.

let me know, I will help all I can.

Hot water heater keeps shutting off.

This sounds like a circuit board has a component that may be heating up and failing. When the unit is unplugged power is shut off to the circuit board, which will allow the component to cool down and start to work again. If this is the case then the component will fail completely at some time.

My Honeywell Water Heater Thermostat will turn on for 30 seconds. Then it shuts down- wait 5 seconds turn it off EITHER with the ON/OFF switch OR by turning thermostat to off & back on immediately! If...

Time to call qualified service technician. And watch what that person does to learn about your water heater.
I assume you have Honeywell Icon gas valve. Honeywell makes different several model numbers.

Here is 'typical' Honeywell Icon gas valve service manual for Bradford White, that may or may not apply to your water heater. It shows testing for Icon and disassembly instructions, and error codes.

Gas water heaters today require yearly service that includes cleaning burner parts and combustion chamber, checking vent and air intake, electrical connections, testing gas valve, checking gas pressure, bleeding air out of gas line, etc. These are things you can learn to do by reading service manual, and making sure you have a spare water heater around to connect real quick if experiment goes wrong.
If Icon gas valve is problem, that control is modular and can be replaced without draining tank.

Only about a cup of hot water will come out, then it gets cold.

You need to check 2 things. First, go outside and carefully open pressure relief valve at top of tank,(careful in case hot water spurts out) and make sure there is water in it. Second, look at back of tank inside RV and check your by-pass valves(s) for proper positioning. Cold water enters the water heater at the bottom fitting, so that valve has to be open, as well as leaves water heater at hot fitting at top of tank (the highest fitting) so that valve as well needs to be open. Any valves that may be in between those 2 water lines need to be closed. I am assuming that the heater starts runs, shuts down etc, just not running any hot water through hot side of taps, correct?

Tankless Paloma NG hot water heater shuts down

have you checked the error codes on the heater?
you can do this by powering off the controler and pressing the up and down keys for a few seconds. this should take you into the diagnostics mode scroll using the up and down keys till you find the one that has the letter E on it and that will give you the last 8 error codes write them down and get back to me
