Registry Mechanic is a program that I do not recommend unless you are a skilled computer user. It is supposed to remove useless entries from the registry but often removes entries that are vital to the smooth operation of your computer.
I would suggest the easiest way to resolve this is to try using system restore to go to a point in time before you used Registry Mechanic.
Use the link below to see an article explaining how to use System restore. Simply use this to pick a date before you used Registry Mechanic and the computer will attempt to restore to that time. Be patient as the computer will need to shut down and restart whilst it gathers the information it needs to go back to an earlier time.
