Question about HTC HD2 Smartphone

4 Answers

My phone will not connect to any network after my daughter gave it a hard reset. Until then it worked fine. My sim (vodafone pay as you go) works in other phones. The phone recognises networks that are available but cannot make or receive calls. My local Vodafone shop could not help and told me to come back and let them know if I found an answer! I bought the phone on ebay some months ago from a reputable seller (100% positive feedback). I've tried a rom upgrade (at the request of HTC support) - still the same problem.

Thanks for the advice however it still refuses to connect. I have followed the advice, left it off for half an hour to no avail, then an hour for a second time in case that wasn,t long enough. As I say, everything else on the phone works, except calls. Still got the signal exclamaion mark. Do you think it's being blocked somehow? It shows all the available networks for me to connect to in my area but I still get the no signal symbol. When I phone a number is says "Unknown" then "The operation failed".

I think we are talking at cross purposes. It is not a contract phone. It is sim free. I do not want to connect to the internet, I want to make a phone call. So do I need to put in internet access point details just to make a phone call?

Usually after a hard reset, the firmware has to be upgraded.

Well, I need to know something more, what message do you see when you select the Network? As you said, "The phone recognises network that are available...." Or is it simply auto detected?.
Another question, what does the line say when you call your number from someone's number? or what error do you get when you make calls?

Thanks.

Carter,
It does not matter where you bought it from. The fact remains that it was connecting to the net before the reset. It should again. have you got the settings from Vodafone? They have to be saved. Then only the phone would become net ready. If you have to talk to Vodafone helpline do so and get the settings. The Access point has to be defined and then only the phone would connect.

The upgrade you performed has locked the phone again. not sure the steps she performed for a hard reset. but take the battery out for about 15 minutes to a half hour. put it back in and allow the phone to boot up without the sim card. shut it off then turn it back on after you put in the sim card.

I currently have a Vodafone SIM but am switching networks. When I put the new SIM in, it doesn't work. I have been told I need to put a PUK code somewhere, but Vodafone isn't telling me anything on where...

The Vodafone SIM card will only work on the Vodafone mobile network. If you want to use different mobile provider then you need to purchase a new SIM card from that mobile provider.
If you intend to use your old mobile phone that was connected to Vodafone, then if this mobile phone is locked to Vodafone, then the new SIM card from a different mobile provider will not work in the old mobile phone unless it has been unlocked to allow you to use any SIM card/mobile provider.
If you need to unlock this mobile, then please leave me a comment so I can provide you with further information.

SECURITY CODE

Please read ALL of the instructions below before you start.See the "Note:If nothing happens." below.

Quote:

Nokia 1600
IMEI# number
Vodafone

Did you check with IMEI: *#06# ,Firmware Version: *#0000# .

Nokia:1600
IMEI:359375001084576
Network:Vodafone
Country:UK

Is this correct?

If you know the risks, try this ONCE and ONLY ONCE and let us know if it works. You have only 3 to 5 tries and then it will be hard locked. After that you will need a cable thing-a-me-jiggy to unlock it. It will still work on your Network so no big loss.

#pw+314646531133130+7#

Remove sim first, power on the phone.
After the phone boots up, press #
Press * 3 times fast for (p) \
Press * 4 times fast for (w) IMPORTANT
Press * 2 times fast for (+) /
and the rest of the code---

IMPORTANT!!
Verify code before pressing the last #.
Pay attention. You only heve about two seconds.

Note:If nothing happens. Some Phones require that you to insert a non accepted sim. Before you do this, make sure the sim you use does NOT have a security PIN CODE. If it does, reset the security code to default 12345 with the original phone. Insert a non accepted SIM and turn it on. You will see "phone restricted", select the UNDO option, then enter the code in the restriction box and press ENTER.

O2 SIM card won't work in a Virgin mobile

This is because you can't put an other network sim card in a different network phone.
Example: Vodafone SIM + T-Mobile Phone = Wont work.                Vodafone SIM + Vodafone Phone = Work.
