Remove panel that's over the door (screws on top). next, remove control panel by unscrewing usually 1 screw on top of panel. finally, lift panel upward; then pull foward. of course, unplug power cord before disassembly. fuse should be 20amp 3ab20 ceramic snap-in fuse and is located inside up high near cooling fan. fuse can be obtained at radio shack. keep in mind fuses fail for a reason.

This answer is right on. I was able to remove the panel and get to the fuses. They were both ok but I did find a schematic under the panel which is not correct but does have a troubleshooting flow chart which led me to checking the thermal cut outs (tco). The only one I could get to was ok and can't get to rest without total disassembly and I'm not ready to do that.

I have a GE JKP62G microwave-oven combo. The oven works fine. The microwave blew the 15 amp fuse. When I replaced the fuse, per your earlier directions, and tried to use the microwave, the new fuse blew....

Cause 1
If too much current passes through the microwave circuitry, the line fuse will blow. If the line fuse blows, the microwave won’t start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. If you don’t resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too

Cause 2

Main Control Board

The main control board might be defective. However, this is rarely the case. Control boards are often misdiagnosed—check all of the more commonly defective parts. If you have determined that all of the other components are working properly, replace the main control board.

Cause 3

Thermal Fuse

The thermal fuse cuts off power to the microwave if the microwave overheats. To determine if the thermal fuse has blown, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. The thermal fuse cannot be reset—if the fuse is blown, it must be replaced.

Since its a electrical isue cal a liscenced professiona to resolve the issue . Your microwave oven isnt at fault . I belive the supplay to it has issue and would have blown anyway.

If too much current passes through the microwave circuitry, the line fuse will blow. If the line fuse blows, the microwave won't start. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. If you don't resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too. (Caution: The microwave oven can store thousands of volts of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the line fuse.)

How do I replace fuse

Well you need to find where the fuse is located, And determine what type of fuse is being used. So you know what fuse you need to buy to replace it.

How do you know you need to replace the fuse?

Blown HV fuse

I would replace it with a fuse of the same 5kv.09 as replacing with another may overload the microwave and cause a fire.

not recommended to replace with a higher fuse rating or kind

Replace fuse Kenmore 40188523011

If you know that a fuse is open, you need to find out why it went out before replacing it. There are typically three fuses in any given microwave oven. Line or monitor fuse, cavity temp fuse and magnetron temp fuse.

The food in the microwave is not heating up I have tested the fuse (F8AH250V) and found that it has blown. Is it safe to replace this fuse (F8AH250V) on my microwave.

Fuses seldom just go bad on their own, but it's safe to replace. Before you replace the fuse, squeeze the tabs of the fuse holder clips together a bit. Sometimes they don't grip the fuse tightly enough, and this can cause heating which damages the fuse. If the fuse blows again there is a bad part in the oven that will need to be located and replaced. For a small countertop oven, it's probably more economical just to replace the oven than to repair it.
