Question about Dryers

1 Answer

A Bosch integrated condensing tumble dryer; the power is on, the timer starts the countdown, but drum does not turn and no heat output. Is it a simple electrical fault? Area is Warwickshire, would like to have it repaired, but need to know if parts available and how much likely to cost.

Hi.

The unit must be tested in order to find the fault. If timer duns but the dryer does not cycle, parts to be tested are the following:

Thermal fuse - Testing reading impedance, must have zero Ohms.
Door switch - tested jumping its contacts.
Thermostat and heating group - Tested reading impedance.
Timer board - Replaced when the rest is OK, tested reading volts during cycle.

To get repair in Warwickshire try contacting Bosch or use this link. Arrange an engineer visit (Book an engineer online or call 0844 8928979.
Remember that Bosch appliances have at leeast one year warranty on labour and two years on parts.

Bosch condensation dryer when on heated dry clothes come out steaming hot not dry

Sounds like something's blocking the hot damp air being removed from the drier. If you are confident enough, go through the drier vent system looking for a blockage. If not get a good DIY neighbour or appliance engineer. Silly question, is the drum turning?

My white knight tumble dryer wont start

Nothing works or drum fails to turn (tumble dryers)
Ensure that the power supply to the dryer is switched on, the timer is set to the desired drying time and the door is correctly closed. If you have a condenser model, also check that the bottle is empty and is fully pushed into the machine.

The first thing to establish when troubleshooting the clothes dryer is whether the dryer will start or not. If it won't, start by checking the outlet and the circuit breaker. Is the dryer plugged in or has it tripped the circuit breaker? If the breaker has been tripped, flip it back on and try the dryer again. The drum should turn without a problem.
If both plug and breaker are fine, you'll need to inspect the door switch as you continue to troubleshoot the tumble dryer. When you close the door on the dryer, a plastic peg should click and operate the switch which allows the dryer to work. The peg might be bent or broken, in which case it won't connect with the switch. You can try to straighten the peg, but if it's broken, you'll need to replace it. If the peg is fine, the switch has probably failed and will need to be replaced.

Bosch dryer will not heat

If you have a Tumble Dryer that is not heating up but the drum is turning ok, then the chances are the thermal overload cutout has tripped. Bosch dryers have a reset button but you will have to remove the heater cover panel to access it, you will find it just above the heating element (a black stat with small red button) simply press the red button and if it clicks you've fixed it.
It also may be:
If the dryer doesn't heat, but the drum turns, check the thermal fuse(s). The thermal fuse protects the dryer from overheating and helps to prevent fires. If the thermal fuse is blown, it will have to be replaced

Whirlpool condenser dryer not working. Power coming in to machine but that is about it.

hiya
does the machine make a buzzing noise? or heat up?

if it makes a buzzing noise and heats up it will more than likely be the motor surpressor, all this does is gives the motor a kick start to set it off tumbling with a wet load. theres a quick way you can check if it is this at fault, make sure the drum is empty and set timer as you would normally, open the door and spin the drum as hard as you can then shut the door quickly (whilst drum is still turning if you can), the dryer should now run normally until it stops again.

hope this helps

please dont forget to rate the helpfulness of this reply, thanks kj

Condensing tumble dryer not running

has the belt shredded and wrapped itself around the shaft? try to manually rotate the drum to see if the belt is free and the motor shaft moves. it sounds like the motor is stuck and the smell is the uncirculated heat at the back. let me know your results.
taking the lid off will gain access.
