Question about Craftsman 25cc Gas Line Trimmer

I have a craftsman 32cc weedeater model 316791810. I am not sure how to replace the trim line. Is the line supposed to automatically length itself when the line breaks?

An auto feed line system will do just that and if too much line is released there is usually a cutter inside the edge of the plastic guard covering the string head. I use a Troy Built head on a 32 craftsman and I unscrew the bump knob ...twist and pull out the spring loaded spool....cut a lenth of line 6-8 feet or so....thread the two raw ends thru the two holes in the inner spool....pull them out until they are even with each other....then grasp each one and hold them side by side and wind them onto the spool in a clockwise manner. This is how I do the string head with a split boom that fits the 32cc Sears Power head (an older Troy Bilt).

The above comment wouldn't apply as this model is craftsmans Hassle Free III head. There are two sets of holes for different diameter line. Fit in a length in the shape of a U inserting each side evenly.
Personally, this gets too tiring for me as I have to have about 10 precut pieces of line for each trim job. I'm looking into replacing the head w/ a bump feed.

I see. I stand corrected on the string-head type. Single line changes would seem tedious. Everybody likes the bump-feed models. Thanks.

Any thoughts on a replacement bump head to fit this model? I tried a few, but most (like echo) are threaded differently.

Easy way to install fuel line and primer bulb return line into gas tank

Chainsaw fuel lines enter the gas tank from holes in top of tank. They are sized for a tight fit to prevent leakage. Make it easy on yourself when pushing the line through the tank by cutting a long lengthwise taper cut with razor knife 3 inches or longer to easily feed through that tight hole. Once started you will then have to grab it through the gas cap hole with needle nose pliers, then cut the tapered end flush and add fuel filter. Readjust inside length by pulling from above, then cut to length to upper carb fitting. If connecting to primer bulb a filter is not required and make sure the line goes to fitting on primer bulb marked tank.

I have a 32cc craftsman weedeater. I put new fuel lines on it because they were falling apart, and I don't have the fuel filter on it right now, will that make a difference? It will start, but as soon as I...

Hi, yes the filter is in place to protect the delicate workings inside of the carburetor. Something my be blocked partially letting some fuel pass but when the throttle is turned up the supply cannot match the demand and it fails. Try to give the carb a good cleaning. If the the fuel lines are such that they need replacing then the carb itself could probably use some attention. hope this helps.bv

Don't use too many words. Craftsman Weedeater Fuel Lines should be sufficient. If you can't get it, then post back here again please.

How to replace a craftsman weedeater gasline?

you hook one line to it the return line inside the tank

The line you used as a return line pull it back thru the gas cap hole and put that piece on one end of that line and pull it back in the tank until it stops and then hook the return line back where it belongs

Weedeater will not run with choke off

Check your carburettor mounting screws, they might be loose and it would mean the engine is
getting to much air and it would leak gas. Stephen

Craftsman 32cc Weedeater -- need fuel line diagram

The smaller diameter line (fuel supply) goes from the fuel tank (w/filter) to the carb body. Another larger line (purge line) goes from carb body to the right nipple on the primer bulb. Another large line (return line) goes from the left nipple of the primer bulb into the fuel tank. co0mpleting the purge circuit. This info pertains to my 2006 Craftsman 32cc with Zama carb.

Craftsman 32cc weed eater wont start. Push in the primer bulb and it does not refill, stays stuck in!

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You willneed to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Makesure the small screen is free of debris.(Should be able to see daylightthrough it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

How to add more line in my craftsman 32cc

Invert the trimmer pull the center of the head straight off. Wind new line in counter Clockwise direction. There should be a hole or notch to place the center of the string in. insert each end of the sting through one of the holes in the head and reinsert the spool into the proper position. Be sure that the automatic advance is movable by pressing down and pulling out more string. Cut string to proper length and restart your trimmer
