My cd-rom player will allow audio & video but this particular cd-rom compact disc contains an interactive manual .Which when i insert it ,it pops up a window saying to try re-loading the program but it's to no avail!

  • ANGELO CAMPIONE Aug 23, 2010

The cd-rom cd works fine on my daughter's laptop but not on her desktop or my desktop.

  • ANGELO CAMPIONE Aug 25, 2010

Well buddy.I tried your suggestion but the program would not fully load.A window popped-up before it could completely load saying that i already have a version similar to this one installed already. So just exit this download by hitting the OK button. It may be that your other idea which was that it might not work in my computer for some unknown reason. Thanks for your suggestions just the same,A.C..

The absence of the cd rom drive in my computer ..and automatically the malfunction is caused by a virus that attack the drivers of these kinda devices..
You have to reinstall it in order to work ..but as long as the virus will be present in the system it will get back to not functioning after a few hours or days ..
the quick fix is to go to the device manager by right clciking on the my computer icon ..than choose properties/hardware /and device manager ..
In there look in the list and find the cd -rom drive ..just unde computer ..on disk drives..
it will be in yellow with a ask sign on it ..signaling the lack of the driver or the wrong driver being installed..
right click on it ..and choose update driver ..than choose not to install it auto ..but to pick from a list ..and from the list of drivers that windows will expose..choose the one that it is corespondent with the device in use..and next until finish ..
restart and this will get it back temporarily ..
The real fix..will be to reinstall; the operation system completely ..and format the C partition during the operation ..This will be the only way to get rid of the virus for good..
You will need a boot-able CD with the operation system ...and the drivers for the devices..(at least the LAN card to be able to connect it and download the rest of the drivers after) ..
or....use the recovery disk or the recovery partition if there is any available ...this will be easier to do ..but not that efficient without formatting the C partition ..

Sorry ..after I had access on you comments I sow that your CD rom it is fine ...but just that particularly cd will not work ...
if it sees the files on it ..(right click on the cd rom icon in my computer ..and click explore ) ..but the files will not open ..than it can be from the lack of the program for to open this kinda manuals...
Usually the manuals use the adobe reader program to be able to show PDF files wich are the usual tip of extensions for manuals..
here I will link an Adobe reader installer ..just download it ..and run into computer ..for to see if this was the missing program ..
If tis was the issue ..after restarting the disk will open without problem ..
    Here is the link :
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/nimmtgma2n...
just click ..download ..and run the program until finish ..After that restart and try to see the disk again ...let me know how it works ..and also if it do not want to work ...let me know what exactly it is written on the disk ..
tip, program, ..extensions ..recommendations ..maybe it is a special one ..and will not run ..
pay attention not to be a DVD and your computer to have only CD reader ..capability ..

like I said ..if you already have adobe reader in the system ..than the thing remaining to be checked is if the disk is a dvd ...and what kinda device you have on computer ..dvd or cd rom or writer ..Just read on the tray's front lid ..and see what it is written there ..
If the disk is a dvd ..and the optic device is a DC rom or writer ..than it can not work cause the cd units do not read dvd disks..

  • ANGELO CAMPIONE Aug 26, 2010

The front tray says DVD/MULTI/ RE-WRITEABLE.The compact disc is not a dvd.

    Catalin Turcu Aug 26, 2010

in this case it should be able to work ..what exactly is doing when you insert it ...
try to insert the cd ..and after that go to My computer foler..and right click on the cd drive ..and choose explore ..and see if it opens it ..
if does..just use the manual from the inside..cause it might be a problem with something that blocks the auto-execution..

    Catalin Turcu Aug 26, 2010

another thing that may be the happening is that the computer specifications are not compatible with the minimum requirements for to this program to work into it ..this may be the reason that it works in one ..and not in the other ..probably that one has a bigger CPU and more ram memory ..and it is capable to run the program ..

Could you please tell me more about your problem? I can't assume myself since it's too short to guess. Is it detected by the computer or not? or Is it not reading CDs? etc.. I can help you fix your problem with your CD-Rom. Awaiting.
Thanks.

If you can try it on another computer, that's the most helpful method and will simply narrow down to the nearest cause. In case it's working fine on another computer, then you need to check the power connectors, data cable and the it's drivers on the computer where it's having problem.

If the same problem persists on another system then the problem is with the Drive itself, possibly the lens is bad. You can replace it but you'll need to send it to the service center. Is it still under warranty? If so they'll replace or repair it for you free of charge. Otherwise you'll pay for the service and for the parts. In the meantime, I don't recommend getting it repaired, since repairing and replacing a Cd lens will cost you nearly the same price as buying a new Drive.

Let me know after you get it tested on another System. Thanks

CD-ROM drive doesn't acknowledge DVD-ROM, what's wrong?

CD-ROMs dont play dvd becuase they are not designed to read dvd.

If a dvd drive for your model is not available, you can buy an external usb dvd drive.
That should solve your problem

My samsung cd-rom sc-148c drive is not working. It is not listed in "My Computer". I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but that does not work.

Is the CD-ROM drive on a separate cable on the second IDE controller on the desktop motherboard? Then the jumper setting can be set to Master or Slave if no other drive is connector to this cable.
If the CD-ROM is also on the first IDE controller and IDE cable as the hard drive then the jumper setting on the CD-ROM must be set to SLAVE because the hard drive would be jumpered as MASTER.
Check the BIOS setting to see if the CD-ROM drive is detected.
If the CD-ROM still does not work after you checked and configured the CD-ROM drive, then is is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Trying to install XP when disk selection comes up it reads, "Unkown disk. There is not disk in this drive". NOt sure what that means.

your drive is not being read,
have you set BIOS to boot from CD ROM,
is your CD ROM working,
is your XP CD working

Do the following
1 go to BIOS and re-set to BOOT from CD ROM
2 use another copy of XP/Win98/Vista etc to verify if CR ROM is reading the CDs else...
if you doubt CD ROM drive has a problem....
3 use a USB external CD ROM, and to do that u need to re-set the BIOS to boot from USB CD ROM

Cd/dvd dosen work pleace geimy a solution

Hi,
i cant get you. cd/dvd is not working or cd/dvd rom drive is not working ? To work cd/dvd rom drive properly, Make sure the Jumper settings of the drive is set to slave or else remove all the jumpers from the cd/dvd rom drive, it automatically sets to slave. Check the power cable and the FRC(flat ribbon cable) of the cd/dvd rom drive. Hopefully it should work. Thank you.

CD ROM Won't work

First you want to make sure the CD you are using is good. Try a different CD-ROM, a known good one. If a different CD-ROM is readable then the problem is with your CD media and not the CD-ROM Drive. If another known good CD does not work then the problem is with the drive.

To fix this you must purchase a new CD-ROM drive and install it. Newegg.com has great deals. If you only want to read CDs and are not interested in burning then you can get a name brand CD-ROM drive for around $15.00, but if you need to burn as well the CD+-RW will run you about $30.00.

If you are using Windows XP then it is pretty simple to install the new CD-ROM drive.
