Hey Andy -do you have your restore cd that came with your pc? If so, watch the screen when your pc starts and it should say something like F10 to restore. Didn't manufacturers use different keys. If you need more help or would like to try to fix your current problem let me know. If not and this solved your question, PLEASE rate this as fixed. If you need help just holler. Thanks and have a nice day.

Factory restore

Dell Dimension computers have a built-in PC restore system that allows you to quickly restore the PC to its original factory settings.
The PC restore is located in a hidden partition of the PC's hard drive and contains a copy of the computer's original factory installed software.
There are two different ways to restore the Dimension's settings depending on which operating system your computer is running.

Windows XP

Disconnect all peripheral equipment that is attached to your computer such as printer, scanner, external hard drive and memory sticks.
Restart the computer.
After the Dell screen appears on the monitor, hold down the "Ctrl" key and press the "F11" key.
If the Windows XP screen appears before you can finish this step, wait for the computer to finish rebooting and restart the computer again.

Highlight "Restore" in the Dell PC Restore window by using the tab button.
Hit "Enter."

Highlight "Confirm" in the restore warning box by using the tab button.
Hit "Enter."
This will start the system restore process.
Do not attempt to turn off the computer during this process or vital system files may be damages and you will not be able to restart your computer.

Click "Finish" in the box that notifies you that the restoration has been successful.

Hit "Enter" to restart the computer.
The computer has been restored to the original factory settings.

Windows Vista

Disconnect all peripheral equipment that is attached to your computer such as printer, scanner, external hard drive and memory sticks.

Restart the computer.
After the Dell screen appears on the monitor, press the "F8" key.
If the Windows Vista screen appears before you can finish this step, wait for the computer to finish rebooting and restart the computer again.

Highlight "Repair Your Computer" by using the down arrow key in the Advanced Boot window.
Hit the "Enter" key.

Click "Next" after selecting a language. Log into the computer as an administrator.
"OK." Choose "Dell Factory Restore."
Click "Next."

Check "Yes" next to the reformat the hard drive and restore factory settings option.
Click "Next" to start the restoration process.
Do not attempt to turn off the computer during this process or vital system files may be damages and you will not be able to restart your computer.

Click "Finish" in the box that notifies you that the restoration has been successful.
The computer will automatically restart itself to its original factory settings.

Need to factory reset windows xp without disk

Restoring a computer to its original factory settings should be the last ditch effort in attempting to save a system that has been corrupted by viruses or defective programs. In the best case scenario, one would use the system restore CD that ships with new computers but often this CD is lost or the computer was purchased used. In this case, a factory settings restoration can still be performed by using the computer's "Advanced Boot" menu.
Restart the computer. Press the "F8" key after the computer reboots but before the "Windows" logo appears on the screen. You should now see the "Advanced Boot" menu. Scroll down through the menu options using the down arrow key. Stop when "Repair Your Computer" is highlighted and hit the "Enter" key. Select the language you wish to use and press the "Enter" key. Type in the computer's administrator ID and password. Press the "Enter" key. Scroll through the options using the down arrow key. Choose "Restore (name of computer manufacturer) Settings." Press the "Enter" key. Choose "Yes" when asked if you want to reformat the hard drive. Press the "Enter" key to begin the reformatting process. The process takes a few minutes, so be patient. Do not turn off the computer or attempt to stop the process after it has begun, or this may result in major damage to the hard drive. Choose "Finish" and press the "Enter" key to restart the computer. The computer will restart with the original factory settings.

Factory settings

Did not say what type of PC you have, but most of them use the F10 key to access recovery. When you start it up keep pressing the F10 key and see if your unit has recovery on it. If so, follow directions to reformat the system and it will reset itself to factory settings after reformatting and installing your system again.

Oxa0000003 trying to get rid of it

Have you tried booting in safe mode? Turn off computer, then turn it on and immediately hit the F8 key repeatedly until you see Safe Mode as an option. Take the safe mode option. Once it boots up all the way in safe mode see if you can go to Start/Programs and look for eRecovery to restore back to factory settings. If not, you should be able to get it back to factory settings in spite of the error code. Boot your computer and and try the Alt+F10 key to get the factory setting started. Try Alt+F10 when you see the Acer Logo. If it doesn't work try it when you first turn on the system.

How to factory restore

What operating system are you running ? If you are running XP then go to start - All Programs - then to accesories- then to system tools -then to system Restore then highlight the date to take it back to and hit next . you may have to try a couple times to get a good Restore date but that is ok not to worry. It will Run and then Restart then tell you that is complete or tell you it couldn't Restore . No problem continue on untill you get a good date as I said before.

Depending on the model you can use disks it came with or hit F10 or F11 key as it boots. Should then bring you to recovery menu. Then just follow the menus.

Keep in mind it will erase ALL of your data.

Hope this helps.
