SOURCE: Canon MF6550

I've tried everything before for months... unplugging, new cartridges, servicing, etc. I've always avoided jarring an electronic item, but hitting the front fixed it! A couple of open-palmed smacks above the paper drawer, and it printed this very page. Apparently, sometimes the cover over the laser sticks shut after replacing the print cartridge, or removing a paper jam. Sounds crazy, but smack it!

SOURCE: light or blank page printing

Hi,

To my knowledge, if any copier has reached a certain number of copies (say 50K), then it would be mandatory to replace/service the following:

  • developer;
  • OPC Drum;
  • cleaning blades; and
  • rollers.
This is in addition to the replacement of the cartridge.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: COPIER imageRunner C3100N has an occasional streak down the page

Is it a grey/green colour, not one of the C,M,Y,K colours?

If so I think it will either be a worn out cleaning blade or drum.

How to reset the counter when replacing the inkjet cartridge.

Typically when you put a new ink cartridge in a printer you need to go to the cartridge maintenance location of the driver and "reset" the counter so the computer knows you have a new cartridge installed. By doing this the computer can keep track of the ink level because it knows approximately how many sheets can be printed on an average cartridge. This location can be accessed from the desktop by clicking on "start", then "control panel" then "printers and other hardware" then "view installed printers and other hardware", then click on the appropriate printer, then click on "printer" then "properties" then "cartridge maintenance". At this point there should be a selection where you can reset the counter, print a test page, print an alignement page, etc. I would recommend printing an alignment page. Every time you remove and install a new printer the alignment changes. Follow the instructions on the screen and your printer should be reset and printing like a champ.

Hi! I has refill my ink cartridges for canon mp490 printerbut I don't know how to reset it to make it print.i know you may have more idea then me.thanks for your help.thanks

Welcome to the world of Canon. Simply put, the PG-210 CL-211 cartridges have what I like to call "digital fuses" built in. One fuse for "new" and one for "empty". When you install a new Canon cartridge both "digital fuses" are intact. The "new" fuse tells the printer that it is a new genuine Canon cartridge and resets the page counter internal to the printer. With the page counter reset, the printer "blows" the "digital fuse" and that cartridge enters the used state. When the page counter on the printer believes the cartridge to be completely empty it will "blow" the second "digital fuse" and the printer will from then on refuse to recognize it as a valid cartridge. Some claim to have ways around this, but Canon really has won this battle. My Cartridge World store does not refill these cartridges and does not recommend refilling them. Buying original Canon cartridges is what we recommend.

When you change the Toner Cartridge out, you do not have to reset the page counter, this is done when a maintenance kit is installed, Though if you would like to track how many pages, you could get the current page count from the configuration page, which is accessed by going to the Menu-----

I have installed a new ink cartridge but it still will not print saying it is out of ink

The low ink warning if you are using remanufactured cartridges.Even if you aren't, the OEM companies place a chip inside of each cartridge that counts the number of pages that you print. When the cartridges reach a certain number of pages, they automatically tell your printer that you are running low on ink. The warning can usually be bypassed by clicking the “Resume” or “OK” button, or by disabling your ink level indicator. Here is a link on how to bypass the warning on Canon cartridges that may help:
