On your PC you have "Audible download manager" Icon (right bottom corner near time and date setting on the botton taskbar). Click on this Icon.
Then you have 8 Choose.Ypou must click on third (3) "Activate audiblea ready device..". (Mp3 player must be connected on PC). Then set only your audible user name and password an must go.
I have so activated. Sorry my english is very bad.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Trying to download e-book keeps telling me media engine error drm licence not available

You should always use audible manager to download e-books on this player. You can go to www.audible.com and create an account with them and get audible manager.

Another option is to download the ebook and convert it into mp3 format. Now you can play it just like any other mp3 song.

Hope this helps.

Playerdoes not seem to restart or resune at the same spot that it was stopped in aN AUDIO BOOK.

You can resume play after navigating away from audiobooks. Play resume function is provided in this model. However, if you are unable to use this feature, I'd suggest that you uninstall audible manager and then install again. If the problem persists you can contact Audible support or Philips support.

Hope this helps.

How do i play my audio books from audible.com

You have to make sure that your audio books are in an mp3 or wma format. If they aren't - you will have to convert them which is a fairly simple process.

I have a Philips GOgear SA5285 and I can load the audible audiobooks and they go to the audiobook file but when I load my library books from Netlibrary.com they load as songs and do not have book marks, so...

If you are a newbie, and you primarily want the mp3 player for audiobooks, then go ahead and take this player back to the store - I'll tell you why:
The deal between Audible and Philips fell through before the latest series of GoGear's was released. Therefore, even though the player has an Audible folder, it will not properly play Audible audiobook files. Sad, but true.

Your post reminds me that I need to write a Consumer Watch article on mp3 players that claim to play audiobooks - 90% of them will not easily allow you to play audiobooks - you will have to jump through hoops.

If you still want to try, here is what you want to do:
1. Delete any audiobooks off the GoGear, but make sure that you have a copy of the audibooks on your computer itself.
2. Open Windows Media Player. Find your audiobook files in your library. If they don't show up, then you will have to move your mouse over the Library tab - a small black arrow should appear underneath the word "Library" - click the black arrow and select "Add to Library". Click "Add" and find the folder in which your Audible files are stored. It may take several minutes, but Windows Media Player will add these files to Windows Media Player.
3. Right-click an Audiobook file starting with Chapter 1 of whatever book, and select "Advanced Tag Editor". One-by-one, manually assign an a track number to each audiobook chapter - Track 1 for Chapter 1, Track 2 for Chpater 2, etc.
4. Now, re-add the audiobook files to your GoGear.
5. You might additionally have to go into the Settings menu of your GoGear, and turn Shuffle mode off - your user's manual can show you how to do this.

Sound like a lot of work? You betcherbottom dollar it's a lot of work. This particular mp3 player is not the best for audiobooks.

Recording Audio-books

The GoGear says it is compatible with Audiobooks, but only in the loosest sort of way. It has no way of natively playing them in order or keeping your place, etc. Even the GoGear's that have an Audible folder won't work well, b/c the deal between Audible and Philips fell through prior to release - LOL. Your best bet would be to open Windows Media Player, right click each audiobook track, select "Advanced Tag Editor," and manually re-enter the track number for each chapter in the order that you want them to play. Then delete the current audiobook files off the Philips, and then reload the ones that you have just edited. Good luck!

you will need to upgrade the hardware and then it should play Audible books. Go to Programs on your computer... to the Phillips device manager (several levels of menus). It should prompt you to upgrade.

GOGEAR SA 3345/37 - Computer is not recognizing player as a player

The 5125 recognizes copyright-encryption and has an Audiobook feature

The 3345 does not recognize copyright-encryption, and does not support audiobooks - if you want some laughs - the file system in the 3345 has an Audible folder, but the player does not recognize Audible - it was a design fluke

Philips 2008 models are a step down for the 2007 models, if you ask me
