When watching tv the unit will just shut down at random times, Sometiimes I can just turn it back on but after awhile it will shut down again. Other times I have to wait awhile before it will let me turn it back on. Now When it does this I would push the power button and the unit will turn on but go right back off. Any Idea what this might be? And my next question is can I still buy parts for this tv new or used? This tv is in perfect shape and has great picture when working and I would hate to have to throw it away over a small part.

you either have leaky capacitors near the voltage regulators, cooling fluid leaking on the boards, and/or bad solder connections on the yoke plugs. this model is known for all 3 problems, but you probably need a qualified tv repairman to fix this right.
there is a protection circut that will shut down the tv when it detects a failure in one of the components , when components heat up to much they go into thermal breakdown, the part that is heating up and failing is getting worse , so it will need to be test to determine which one
Sounds like you have a bad green picture tube that has failed. To check this out; remove front speaker grill, remove small panel, you will see three CRT's (pictue tubes) sticking down, remove the little board on the middle tube then restore power. If TV stays on more then likely the CRT is bad but not always the driver on board could also be bad, check voltages.
