Can you tell me the model# of your pc? Gateway Performance 1600 sounds like a memory upgeade. Do you know your BIOS manufacturer? Different manufacturers use different beep codes to mean different things. The BIOS manufacturer may show up quickl on the cgreen when you try to boot. Probably the best way is just tell me the model # of your machine and if you haven't changed anything I can just look up the specks, check what BIOS you have and then tell you what the beeps mean and what do about it. Thanks.

3 beeps - Base 64 K memory failure

  • Reseat the memory.
  • Make sure that the contacts on the memory and the socket are clean.
  • Try removing one bank of memory modules at a time. Note: Some systems might need to have a memory module in Bank 0.
  • Try using RAM chips from the same manufacturer with the same part number and speed.
  • Check for a faulty memory module by trying the memory in a known good system.
  • Trying known good memory in the system.
  • Check the power supply and check for power fluctuations.
  • Swap the motherboard.
This does not apply to all mobo's. can you tell me the brand and model of your mobo (motherboard)

Everytime i boot my pc,it beeps 2x,then black screen,so i have to reboot again

The beeping is caused by your computers POST( Power On Self Test - learn something new everyday! ;) )
Find your motherboard manual, and have a look in it for beep codes, or error codes. The number of beeps will let you know what kind of problem you're dealing with.
If all is well in POST, your computer should only beep once, and continue.
Can you get into BIOS at all, or does it just show you your videocard info on bootup, then black screen?

1 - 3 to 4 second beep about 4 seconds apart, no boot

motherboard is doing a check and failing something another component either CPU, Monitor or memory usualy) (google search bios beeps for your make/model) to determine what.
if you cant find it, just ensure the above 3 are correctly seated by taking them out and putting them back in again.

Can not reinstall os on mt acer 246lc it bleeps 4 times and swithes off

Without knowing what motherboard is in the unit - it will be difficult to determine what the 4 beeps means.

Generally, 4 beeps means issues with :

- memory
- video card
- keyboard
- motherboard failure

Things to try -

- make sure there is no keys stuck down
- remove the battery and AC adapter, remove and re-install the memory sticks (reseating the memory)

If this does not work, your problem may be more serious. Let us know the results of the above suggestions.

When i turn on my windows '95, it runs but I hear 11 beeps. Now I've been told to only hear one. Where do I put my motherboards serial code so ican fix this? The monitor receives a signal but windows...

This beeps occur when some parts inside the CPU are not connected properly. 11 Beeps is VGA Card not properly connected or bad. Try to use another VGA Card.
And remove any PCI Cards that are connected inside and see to it only VGA Card is in to make sure the beeps or the Computer is going to run normally.
Good luck!
Please rate me.

I have a Dell 1720. It does not boot normally. I

Does the Dell laptop have recovery software. If it does, here's a way to overcome the problem and make your own set of recovery disks.

When you do a destructive restore, it actually rolls back all of the software, including the recovery software so you can actually make a set. At this point, it will fix all of the software issues.

My PC auto matically restart when turning it on

The beep you hear is your BIOS trying to alert you to an error in the POST (power on self test) routine. Without knowing the manufacturer of your motherboard one can't be certain what the beeps indicate...see this link for more info: http://www.5starsupport.com/info/beep_codes.htm
It's possible you have some kind of infestation, and it's possible there's something more systemic, but without knowing the make and model of your system I couldn't say.
Sometimes three beeps indicates a keyboard error...you could try another keyboard or unplug yours and see if it will boot up "normally" without it.
Otherwise, report back with some more info and we'll take it from there.
