Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description it sounds like a lid switch problem.

Here`s how you can check it pretty easily...

( this is based on the most common Whirlpool, Estate, Kitchen-Aid, Roper, Kenmore, Inglis topload washer, not neccessarily applicable to ALL...especially those built in the past 1-2yrs. the model number would distinguish if it applies to your particular model )

Lift the lid, if you observe the underside of the lid there will be a plastic "strike" or "actuator" that goes into a hole when the lid is closed.

Check the hole where the actuator goes into the cabinet and insure you can see a gray oval shaped piece. If so take a small screw-driver, pen/pencil or something small enough to fit thru the small hole and try activating the switch by pushing it down ( machine must be in the agitate or spin cycle ). If you don't see it, the switch has likely broken loose and needs to be replaced.

If it start's to function than the switch is not being contacted properly by the actuator on the lid and likely is due to the switch being worn...unless the actuator on the lid is broke, if so there`s the problem.

Make sure the switch is being held in place via the two screws along the side, if they are loose tighten them, if it is broken, it will need to be replaced.

Here`s a helpful link for changing it out,

The lid switch will look like this...

Kenmore 80 series washer model 110 doesn't fully drain when cycle complete

With the lid open, try to turn tub by hand. If you can you may have a bad clutch. If you hear the washer agitating at the begining of the cycle without any water and filling at the end of the cycle, replace the ATC switch. Try spin cycle and open the lid, if you don't see the tub turning, but hear the motor, check motor coupler, or if it never spins after you close lid, check lid switch. These are the most common solutions to this complaint.

My washing machine fills up with water but does not continue the wash cycle. Sometimes when you slam the lid the washer will continue the wash cycle to the end. Other times the washer stays filled up...

Sounds like the lid safety switch is either out of adjustment, or needs replacement.

Most washers will fill with the lid open, but no continue a cycle where the drum or agitator spin, unless it senses the lid is closed.

Fills up with water then stops

Put your timer on spin cycle . close the lid and see if it spins. then open the lid and see if it stops. if the spin cycle works of then maybe can be a bad timer not advancing

Agitator starts at begining of cycle before washer is full

Please be carful as running the agitator without enough water will overheat and kick out the motor, however it should be ok when it resets itself.
Yes, the machine should stop agitating when you lift the lid so this too is part of the problem.
After looking at the print I can only suggest that the cam contacts in the timer ( contacts 12 and 14) that start the motor are burned and stuck together.

Flashing F what is this

This is usually too much detergent or severely out of balance load. Unplug the washer, this will allow you to open the door to re-balance or eliminate very heavy items from the drum. Close door re-plug and restart machine. If this doesn't do the trick repeat the unplug and reset the dial to rinse/spin to clear excess detergent once finished restart normal wash cycle.

Washing machine filled with water then just quit

Check your lid switch to make sure it is functioning. If your washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle or drain, the problem is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

If you have any questions about this repair, or if you need additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Washer will not spin

Your neutral drain is not locking in.
Let the timer advance to the final spin cycle. Once there it should have about a 5 second pause and the transmission spin gears will lock in. If no pause replace the timer. If you have the pause and still no spin replace the transmission.
My bet is on the timer.

Washer clothes

Does the washer fill normally and just stop? Or, does the washer fill, go through a complete cycle, and just won't drain? There could be a couple of problems that cause a no drain issue. 1. FILL NORMALLY & STOPS, WILL NOT SPIN - This is usually a bad lid switch. If you open and close the lid, you should hear a "click", indicating the switch is working. 2. FILL NORMALLY, AGITATES, WILL NOT DRAIN - This could be a clogged drain pump, pinched hose, clogged rain line. Also, you need to make sure timer is advancing properly. If the timer never advances, the washer will fill, but won't go into agitate or spin. Let me know if this is helpful.
