SOURCE: Hi, We are having trouble w/our

First thing turn the tempreture down to the middle setting on the unit. Secondly click this link http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/G0311059-00009.png 429 on the schematic is the damper control this is the small door that opens and closes letting the cold air go into the refrigerator side of the unit. Visually inspect this part if you see any ice up on the inside of the damper or if the door does not open and close freely you would replace this part. 424 and 429 are termed as encoder boards. One of these would control the freezer fan and the other which ever you turn to make the refrigerator colder I think it would be 424 would be the control for the damper door. Most of the time it is the damper door that you will have to replace due to it constantly opening and closeing depending on the tempreture of the refrigerator ends up wearing out the ability to open and close over time. If you have any further questions message me back. I await your reply Thanks Rick

The cold control needs replacing. Thats the knob with the numbers that turn the Ref OFF and ON.
What I do is call my local Appliance Parts Store with my model no. They are extremely helpful .
Get freezer and ref thermometer. Ref is probably too cold.
Freezer should be 0 to 10 degrees. Ref 33 to 35

Hotpoint ice diamond RFA52 P freezer ok fridge not cold enough, this is not a frost free and there are no vents in fridge or feezer?

Good day, please check at the back, at the bottom where the compressor is located for the pencil dryer(as in photo). Get a nice firm grip on it just be careful and feel the temp if it's cold or one side is hot and the other side cold the dryer is block. Otherwise feel the thickest pipe running into the compressor it should be cold if the fridge has been running for a while and the thin copper pipe existing the compressor should be hot. If the thin pipe is freezing up with a thick layer of ice and the dryer as some med-temp then there's a gas leak. If the thin copper pipe is very hot and the dryer has no temp then there's a blockage but if the thin copper pipe feels med-temp and the thick copper pipe more or less the same but a bit cooler the compressor is not pumping also feel if the compressor is running. If dryer as a warmth temp and the thin copper pipe is hot and the thick one very cold(when tipping your finger on your tongue and pressing it against the pipe your finger should stick a bit) if all checks out then it's the thermostat switching the compressor off at the rong temp.

Hi Iv got a Hotpoint fridge freezer iced diamond rfa52 it keeps switching on and off it seems when the fridge gets warm it turns back on my freezer is not defrosting but the fridge is then freezing again...

Okay, have you adjusted your cold temp knob inside the fridge part? There are two switches one in the freezer and one in the fridge you will need to watch it day by day until the optimum temp setting has been achieved same goes for the freezer if it defrosts that is the exact point where your freezer is at best! It takes patience so be patient and your problem will be solved! Good luck and thanks again for using fixya.com

What is best way to defrost hotpoint future rf175b

The model number you gave is not valid. To defrost a fridge you have two options.
Is this a manual defrost? If so boil pot of water and set on rack inside the freezer. You will have to remove big chunks of ice.
Auto defrost fridges. Option 1- Unplug fridge open doors and leave for 24-48 hrs. A bit messy with this so have towels around fridge to soak up water.Option 2- Unplug fridge remove access panel on back wall inside freezer. Take hair dryer and melt all the ice inside on the coils. If you have an ice block you have a problem replace bi metal/efrost thermistat. Heater and/or defrost timer may also be out.
If you have an Ice block on auto defrost models always change the bi metal because they get warped usually inside and ruin them. Test heat with continuity tester and defrost timer by manually advanceing just before shutdown time and letting run through cycle. Should stay in defrost between 8 and 30 minutes.

If you need further assistance or have any questions please comment me back.

MSD2756GEB maytag. freezer is working properly.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Freezer temp and fridge temp not as they should be

you should try and defrost the feezer completely as ice might be blocking the cold coming in. it happed to my fridge freezer and that cured it and it is working perfect now.

The refrigerator doesn't make it cold enough to keep food fresh, even with adjusted level to 9

Whirpool conquest refrigerator-about 8 years old-not cold enough

  • if it does not cool at all then i would suspect the start switch on the side of the compressor or the compressor itself.
  • if the previous repair included tapping into the freon line then it could be the freon leaked out.
  • if the thermostat was bad then the refrigerator fans would not be running,
  • and if the defrost timer was bad (stuck in defrost = not cooling) then the fans would not be running.
  • i don't know of any bad history with this particular model
  • double check the back wall of the freezer to make sure there is no buildup of frost, because this would be a defrost issue.
  • if it is getting a little cold but not cold enough then let me know the temps

High temp red light stays on...

You'll need to tear into it to answer these questions. I suspect the defrost cycle isn't working or the fan is broken. The best way to see what's going on is to take everything out the freezer drawer and remove it. Then take the back panel off the interior rear wall of the freezer section to expose the coils. The coils should have a very even white frost pattern on them (not frozen solid anywhere). If they are frozen up then the air can't flow around them to cool the fridge properly. If the coils seem "normal" with frost only then is the fan just above them working? That fan circulates cold air to both fridge and freezer sections. Let me know what you find out in order to lead you to a repair part.

Could be stuck in "defrost" mode. Happens a lot. See if you can hear if the compressor is running or the compressor cooling fan is running (in back underneath the unit). Worse case is the refrigerant leaked out and you have a sealed system problem.
