Question about JVC HR-DVS3 Mini DV/S-VHS VCR

1 Answer

Unfortunately the JVC HR is not shown up in the unit-manager, so no chance to transfer the data to VDL. Vista32 - SP2 connected via Fire-Wire. The host-controller is ok, working fine also when connecting with a camcorder for testing.

Hi Ginko, the link is pointing to an VISTA SP1 fix, but SP2 is already installed, so I did nothing. As mentioned the camcorder works fine on the fire-wire, but not the JVC. Tried a second cable also, but no result. When using the camcorder vista is informing that a new device was found and can be used now - visible in the unit-manager too - which is not the case when power off/on the JVC.

Hi.

There are several problem affecting firewire connection in Vista. Check the links below , install fix from Microsoft and follow guidelines:

An IEEE 1394 device is no longer available

If that does not work, check the cable , many devices only work on same pin cable (eg. 4pin to 4pin), and do not support firewire adapter cables. Also test using a different device (eg. a camcorder) to find out if firewire is finally working.

IEEE1394 (firewire) connections carry quite a big DC load (up to 30 V, hence the name firewire), they are quite easy to blow. Check if the cable is OK and test socket on JVC HR (you need to use a multimeter). Here pinout: (IEEE1394) bus interface

If firewire conn. has gone, you can use an adapter to connect through AV cables.

Tried to connect firewire to Pc via firewie to USB adapter. This caused total camera failure. Will not power up even on AC adapter or other batteries

Fire wire is old and never competed with USB. They may be able to transfer data, but you probably fried your camera. Possibly due to older USB format.

I lost my manual i would like to know how would i record from vhs to dvd on my device on my jvc combo modle # hr-xvc25u

The HR-XVC25U is a DVD player and VCR recorder. Unfortunately, you can only copy a non-copy protected disc to VHS with the unit.

JVC has the manual for the hr-xvc25u on their product page: http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027079&pathId=10&page=1&archive=true . The direct link to the manual is: http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/96/82970ien.pdf .

I wish that I had better news for you.

How to transfer record to my laptopeduard

needs drivers to install camera to laptop. or In order to place taped videos to the PC, you need a Fire Wire port on your computer, a 6pin to 4pin fire wire cable, and a lot of hard drive space. One hour is about 14 gigs when transfered 100% uncompressed. After editing and compression though the file size is very manageable.

**For every minute you record it takes one minute to transfer to the PC*

or you need a usb videop capture to transfer video to your laptop

I have a dead screen on Sony Ericsson s500i (dropped it) and need to access the data/pics etc still on phone. Phone still receives calls but I obviously cant go into any menu etc to access files from the...

Yes you should be able to access the data using a data cable as your computer will see the phone as an external storage device with data on it that can be transferred to your hard drive. You can also remove the media card from your phone and use a media card reader to connect it to your computer as well. Here is a link to the Sony Ericcsson S500i software download site that you can use to manage the media on your phone and potentailly update your device (small chance to revive screen) http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/s500i?cc=gb&lc=en

SO you actually got the S/VHS to capture via firewire into your computer? I can only get the DV side to work. I have the same unit with manual. I think your initial problem is a refresh rate, are you using Premiere? and can you make the viewing window smaller?

Connect A JVC GR D31 Camcorder to a Computer Via USB 2

Well I'm afraid not the cable don't not come in such of a way either cause they are different type of cable, but what u can do is buy an external fire wire card for yr PC it comes in PCI format for yr desktop PC. because camcorder in these days do not use USB cables due to the cause that fire wire cable is much faster than the USB ones.
