You need to put the charging station in an easily accessible area, since the roomba doesn't know where it is if it's in another room. The roomba needs to be quite close to it to be able to detect it. When its battery runs low the roomba will zigzag around at random until it detects the charging station.

Roomba stopped after 45 minutes. does not move. manually placed on docking station...nothing

Sounds like something's dead either with the roomba or the charging station or power supply. Does it charge up if you plug the power supply directly into the roomba, instead of into the charging station? If not, you'll probably have to return it to the place you bought it.

Generic works fine, and that charger does too. If your charge light and dock light are on then you'll be okay.
Save cash, go generic!

Loss of performance. It will only vacuum 1 room and does not return to base

You have dead nimh (nickle metal hydride) batteries2_bing.gif.
You will need a replacement. You can test for this by removing the battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds. This will restart the charging cycle as if the battery were new. Allow to charge for 72 hours.
