Question about Ovens

Open Question

We have a Cookworks MM55502SS electric oven. As far as we can tell there are two oven settings ? fan and fan adjusted. On the fan setting, the fan blows but there?s no heat, no matter what temperature we set the oven to, so we can?t cook with this setting. We?ve been using the fan adjusted setting instead, but that doesn?t seem to be heating up as much as it should. We?re having to add on half an hour extra or more to cooking times, and struggling to cook meat through thoroughly without ruining it. Is this a known problem, and does it require a repair or replacing the oven? We don't have a manual for the oven (we moved into our flat recently and the oven was already installed).

SOURCE: Fan assist wont heat oven

the ring element may have blown. if it works ok with the top and bottom elements, (the convection oven) then it is likely the element surrounding the oven fan.

These ovens often use methods of regulating the fan voltage or current limitors inside the motor itself , to test this it requires a fair knowledge of electrical motors as there are several types used in fan housings, not knowing this model I can only give you a General guide
Let me know your competance level as far as electrical testing is concerned. As the danger of electric shock from a a/c or d/c motor is quite considerable.

My oven will not stop at the assigned temp.

How much is it off? Adjustable with the thermostat knob. If too far for the knob setting then the thermostat is bad.

Incorrect temperature

under the oven knob is the screw that adjusts the temp. remove the knob and with a small blade screwdriver adjust the temp according to your wife's oven thermometer CW+hotter CCW=cooler
then on the back of the knob is a screw to adjust the position of the knob with respect to the marker

What do you mean by very hot? Is it too hot to touch? Hot enough to sizzle when a drop of water is put on it?
