    That doesn't do anything.

Can't do reset. Can't do self test.

What does red light blinking four times tell us ?

    Thanks,

    Daryl

  • hansjill Aug 23, 2010

The manual says that 4 short blinks and one long one on the red light means "high Voltage" problem.

Hooked up a different power supply and tried reset, but it goes

right back to "4 dots and a dash"

I think they may have had a power surge. Either the main board is damaged, or else the

    feed motor is bad.

    What do you think ?

    Thanks,

    Daryl

  • hansjill Aug 24, 2010

Yeah, didn't get anywhere with this, so sent it in to Janko Systems for repair.
    Thanks anyway,
    Daryl

Did all we could with the information.
    Thanks anyway.

Above is an exploded parts diagram and parts list, below is the service and repair manual
lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst11099459054214/CBM1000Service.pdf
This most likely has a Micro problem, usually something to do with the power supply having a faulty "Rail". However many thing produce the same symptoms, you will have to use the troubleshooting steps in the service manual to isolate the exact problem. The using the parts manual, you should be able to effect a repair.

My Alps MD-1000 is not feeding paper. The tray will move forward and i can see the wheels roll but the paper is not being fed into the printer. I tried doing a self print test (disconnected from a cpu) and...

Here are a couple of suggestions: Try taking the cover off the printer and check for dust near the paper sensor. While you have the cover removed, give it a good spray with a can of air. Be careful, not to break any parts or to pull out wires. Or you can try setting the paper option in the driver to the thick paper. This sometimes helps when I have a paper feed problem.

Every time I try to print the paper jams. All the paper has been removed, turned it off, still jamming

Found this on the Web, hope it helps you.
If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Turn your printer off for about 10 seconds, remove the printer cable and then turn the printer back-on. Does only the Green Power Light come on solid [not blinking], as would be normal, or does the Red Error Light also come on? If only the green power light comes on, then try running your printers self-test page, directly from the printer. On most epson printers you can usually run an self-test page to determine whether a problem comes from the printer itself, or possibly from your computer system. Of course if there are actually any red error lights/leds, already showing on your printer, that would indicate that there is already a problem in your printer. Not all epson printers are always the same, but the following information applies to most models. If this self-test does not actually work on your particular printer, then you should refer to your "User's Manual/Owners Manual" for the correct procedure on how to run your printers self-test page. First unhook/unplug the printer cable from the back or side of the printer. Leave the power cord still plugged in to the wall and leave the paper loaded, as normal. Turn the printer off for 10 seconds or so, to clear out any remaining DATA or information that may still have been in the printers system, from when the computer was previously connected. Normally [on most models], you turn the printer off and then you simply reach over and hold-in on the paper button, while you reach over and turn the power button back on, as normal. Continue to hold in on the paper button for about 3 to 5 seconds, but release the power button after turning your printer on. Release the paper button once you can hear and see the printer starting to initialize and start to pull-in a piece of paper. The printer will normally print out the self-test copy, which will also have a nozzle test on it. If that test fails, or cannot actually be ran because the "Red Error Lights" come on, then you know that there is an actual problem in the printer. Depending on the combination of which lights are on SOLID, or FLASHING or OFF, will actually indicate the possible service error condition. Be sure and let us know if you recently had to remove any bad paper jams, by yanking out the paper with force, especially towards the rear of the printer, in the backwards direction. There is a common problem when you get a constant jam condition, or paper won't feed in correctly after a bad jam was removed, or even when the printer or your computer thinks that the paper has not been correctly loaded. If that is the case, then its possible that a part was unhooked/unseated or even damaged, causing a possible constant paper jam condition. If you did have a bad jam, prior to the paper feeding problem, then let us know and we can try to help you further...ON THE OTHER HAND: If everything is working correctly in the printers Paper Feed Assembly, Carriage Assembly/Cartridge Assembly and the Printhead Assembly, then the self-test copy should be printed out and correctly fed thru the printer. If the self-test page prints out correctly and the nozzle test looks ok, then that indicates that your printer thinks it is working normally [as far as the self-test goes].

Thanks and Good Luck.

HP LaserJet 1018: paper will feed, but no content can be printed

just try to print the self test of the hp 1018 printer.self pest is printed directly from the printer not by giving command from the printer. press any one of the button on the printer and hold it till the light blinks.leave the button when light starts blinking .place the paper in the tray.as soon as you leave the button .a self page will be printed..that is self test.if the self test comes out proper that means its your driver software problem.but if self test also has problem then its the clear problem of dust collected on the printer reading lens due to not using it for 2 years.so the printer needs servicing. get it serviced at local printer repair shop .

Epsom TM-U220 Error Codes

From the manual its probably one of this item.
-printer temp is too high

-cover is not properly closed
-print head is not in the correct position
-paper cutter is not in the correct position
-paper jam

Try turning off the printer, remove the power cable, turn it on again for 5 seconds to reset it. Connect back power cable, press the feed button and turn it back on. The printer should do a self test, turn it off and on again after the self test. It should make the red light go away.

Brother HL 2070N red paper light blinks but won't print.

Just fixed my printer issue, had the same problem, Would load 1 sheet, then jam, sometimes it won't pull the paper out of the tray, sometimes it would pull the paper to the toner area, but never into the toner, opening and slamming the paper tray while it attempted to load would usually work, but who wants to slam the tray 50 times? I was using Walgreens generic paper, 20lb, took some higher-quality 24lb HP paper and VOILA! It works every time! EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, CHECK THAT YOU ARE USING 24LB PAPER!!! Brother says 20-24 is acceptible, but sneaking one sheet of 20lb paper about 15 sheets down in a 20 sheet print job and it will stop at it every time, You can feel the difference, less like toilet paper and more like real paper.

24 LB PAPER! USE IT NOW AND THANK ME LATER!

You will need to do the following diagnostic tests to determine the exact cause of the error: · Remove the ink cartridges · Perform the self test (test B below) · Test the ink cartridges A. To remove the ink cartridges: Switch the printer on by pressing the green button. Open the front cover of the printer. The cartridge carrier should move to the center of the opening. Remove both cartridges. If the carrier does not move to the center of the opening, you will need to remove the cartridges by hand. Turn the printer off and remove the power supply cable (the small circular one) from the back of the printer. Open the front cover of the printer. Inside the printer, locate the silver metal carrier bar on which the print carriage slides. Locate the black rubber carrier belt above the carrier bar. This belt has tracks on its inner portion. Grab the top portion of the belt and move it toward the right. As you move this, the ink cartridge carrier will move to the left. Continue to move the belt until the carrier is in the center of the opening. Now pull both cartridges out. B. To perform the self-test: Disconnect both the power cable and the USB or parallel cable. After one minute has passed, plug the power supply cable (the small black circular one) back in. (This step is necessary to reset the printer.) Turn the printer off by pressing the green power button. Hold down the grey paper feed button. Turn the printer on by pressing the green button. After the printer begins to feed paper, release the grey button. Once the paper exits the printer, press the green button to turn the printer off. If the power light blinks twelve times while no cartridges are installed, there is a problem with the printer. If this is a new purchase, you can also exchange the printer at the point of purchase. If the paper went through the printer as if printing was occurring, you will need to do some more testing. Continue as instructed below. C. To test the ink cartridges: Open the front cover and insert only the black ink cartridge. Make sure that you push it back until it snaps into place. Close the front cover. If the light flashes twelve times, there may be a defect in the black cartridge. If not, proceed to the next step. Turn the printer off using the green power button. Hold down the grey paper-feed button. Turn the printer on using the green button. After the printer begins to feed paper, release the grey button. Once the paper exits the printer, press the green button to turn the printer off. If the light flashes twelve times, there may be a defect in the black cartridge. If a page came through with a black line, your black cartridge is working properly. Now you need to take the black cartridge out and perform the same steps with the color cartridge. If the light flashes twelve times, there may be a defect in the color cartridge. If a page came through with colored lines, your color cartridge is working properly. If one of the cartridges is causing the problem, you will need to replace that cartridge. If it is a new cartridge, please exchange it at the point of purchase. Good luck

Help please. can't print: paper light flashing even though there is paper in printer

To fix the NON EXISTANT paper jam:

Status light is on, paper light is on - you can hear the paper feed trying to "grab" the paper, but it can't,  and status light goes Red.

Take out paper tray

Reset the blue paper holders, move them tight against the paper so the paper is snug against all blue barriers. Cause: Somehow the blue paper holders got dislodged and the paper is not snug so the feeder is trying to grab paper that  is slightly out of reach.
