Question about Peg Perego John Deere Gator HPX Ride on Toy

1 Answer

We have an older model, 5 years or more. Sometimes it works and other times nothing happens when the pedal is depressed. Sometimes moving the shift lever back and forth helps. Sometimes it works in reverse, but not the forward gears.

Sounds like the switches need to be cleaned/replaced. Try peg-peregoparts.com for the parts that you will need.

Cannot shift out of park. Have drove this car for 10 years and this has never happened!

Set the emergency brake.

Locate the shifter lock override slot located on the shifter console near the shifter lever. Normally, the slot is plugged with a small plastic cap.

Remove the plastic cap covering the override slot and insert a key, nail file or similarly shaped object into the slot and push down.

While pushing down, depress the brake pedal, grab the shifter and push in the shifter lock button located on the shifter as you normally do and then move the shifter to the Neutral position. With the brake pedal still depressed, start the engine with the shifter in the Neutral position.

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima will not shift out of park.I have replaced the shifter assemble, brake lights do work,Need help

If the floor shift lever wont move out of park, there foot brake lock that prevents it from moving until you depress the brake pedal and pull it out of park. I think the release is vacuum operated so try depressing the brake pedal a few time while trying to release. TerBo

Won't shift out of park

You probably have a defective brake light switch. The brake light circuit controls the shift interlock. This is made so small children cannot shift the vehicle out of park....You have to step on the brake and work the shifter at the same time...little kids can't do that. Anyway, check your brake lights to see if they are working. If they are not working, this is your problem. The most likely cause would be the brake switch mounted under the dash on the pedal assembly.

I have a 2008 Chevy aveo, and it will not come out of Park.

There is a switch behind the brake pedal that is not functioning. There should be a little port near your shifter marked "Shift Lock Release" or something similar. Pry off the cover and insert your key. Engage your parking brake. Remove the key and proceed to start your car. You will need to do this for every start until you replace the faulty switch. I had this happen to me last year. The switch cost me $5.

check and be sure there is no oil leaking from the engine on the belts and the belts are not oily. inspect the drive belts. as they get older they crack and stretch and don't work as the should. replace the belts as you said it is a older machine. there is nothing wrong with a older machine they just need attention every now and then.

My 20002 mustang v6 its automatic

To shift from "P" to "R", there is a swicth that allows the shift button on the shift lever to be depressed. For this switch to work, the ingnition switch must be "ON" and the brake pedal depressed. If all yor brake lights went out (or if your brake switch on the pedal fails to work), then the shift switch wont work and you can not shift out of "P".
