The not connected icon has an exclamation point on it and says my connection has no or limited connectivity. I cannot find a user guide or product manual for it and I don't know what to do.

Hi there!
The limited or no connectivity problem is commonly caused by some of these factors:
1. router not giving out an IP address (no DHCP)
2. Incorrect network key or passphrase if you enabled wireless security
I want to help you out and I need to ask you these:
1. How many computers do you have?
2. Do you have a wired or wireless computer?
3. Is it laptop or desktop?

Ok, it's a wired desktop.
Was it working before?
What was the last thing that you did before it has that problem?
Is it Windows XP?
Make sure that the ethernet light indicator on your modem/router is on..
Try to change ethernet cables..
Force your LAN cards speed to 10Mbps full/half duplex (Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection Properties > Configure button > Advanced tab > Network Media > 10 BaseT or 10 Mpbs full/half duplex)
