SOURCE: MY IEEE 1394 port does not recognise camcoder

Although this post is rather old, I can tell you that the mini 4-pin firewire port is the bane of my existence. The 6-pin port is made rather sturdy with heavily shielded cable. The 4-pin uses the same heavy cable, but does not have the strength to support the cable, if it happens to droop. This causes pins to get slightly bent out of alignment, and upon re-insertion, you can get crushed pins if you are not VERY careful. Examine both your cable end and the port on your camera/deck - you will probably find one or more of the pins have been pushed back. Pray that it's the cable that's dead, and not the port in your camera/deck. I have a Canon XL1 and a Sony DSR-40 with the same problem - crushed pin in the unit's port. I'll have to spend $$$ to get these ports replaced.

Blue stripes in playback is an indication that you need to clean the heads. A Panasonic cleaning tape should work fine.

How to connect panasonic nv-gs150 with dv to pc in 1394 port ?

You need to purchase a IEEE/1394 firewire. They run around $40-$55 for a 5 foot wire. The 1394 end goes into the computer and the other end goes to your AV/out port on the cam.

Try to connect a panasonic PV-GS39 to my new HP notebook with Windows Vista

Hello. I also have the PV-GS39. I had the same problem as you have, here is what I DID to resolve my problem.

1.Go to: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Camcorders/MiniDV-Camcorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.PV-GS39.D

the above link will take you RIGHT to the web page to download the PV-GS39 Software & Drivers that YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE. But if you have WINDOWS VISTA then you can use the WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER software that is ALREADY PRE-INSTALLED on your PC then you will NOT have to download the software from the above link.

2. You HAVE TO have a: FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD. I got mine at: Best Buy for: $53.86 with taxes. The name of this card is: DYNEX FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD.

3. You ALSO have to buy the CORD that connects to the PV-GS39 and the DYNEX FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD, the cord costs $36.79 ALSO at Best Buy.

I did ALL 3 of the above and now I'm copying my movies and videos from my tape in my camcorder onto my PC and BURNING the video onto DVD/CD Disks.

If you have any questions, you can email me at: uggyredmonster@comcast.net.

Sincerely,
Rick D. Michaels

Transfering from digital camcorder to PC - help

Can't determine this one. "What is the best and easier way to transfer "... Sadly this one can't be answered since we'd have to create some list of software, install and connect with USB or Firewire and tabulate the results. Usually, we have to just settle with others here sharing what works for them, but best is rarely found.
