1. Why is it that when I delete a song file from THUMP, the deleted song still plays?

  • The file was not fully deleted from THUMP. It was placed in a "Trash" folder that is hidden, but THUMP can still see it. In order to remove the song, you must reconnect THUMP to your computer and empty the Trash Bin.
2. Why does it say "there is not enough free space" when I try to copy music or data files onto THUMP?
  • Make sure the size of the file(s) is not larger than the space that is actually available in the THUMP memory.
  • If you are sure there is enough room in the THUMP memory to store the files you are trying to transfer, empty the Trash Bin. The files that you deleted are actually still in THUMP, located in a hidden folder. Emptying the Trash Bin will free the space.
I connected THUMP to my computer but nothing happened. Why can't I see the THUMP folder?

  • If you have Windows XP or 2000, your computer settings might have "Auto Play" deactivated. To display the THUMP drive folder, double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop screen then double-click the THUMP drive in the list.
  • If you have Windows 98SE and THUMP does not appear in the My Computer folder, you need to download the THUMP Software Update Utility from www.oakley.com/thump or call Oakley in the U.S. at 1 (800) 969-2895 and arrange to have a CD sent.
  • If the above solutions don't solve the problem, you might have to force THUMP into "Player Recovery Mode." Press and hold the Play / Pause button for five seconds, then while still pressing the Play / Pause button, connect THUMP to your computer and wait another five seconds before releasing the button. This will allow your computer to recognize THUMP again. After that, run the Software Update and Restore program.
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

You need to tell the program that syncs up not to sync on connect.

I never have this enabled. they assume too much, and I like things the way I set them.

Go to options and look for this setting.

Are you connecting to your computer, opening the player and deleting them that way?
If so, try emptying the trash/recycle bin before unplugging.
The files are marked to be deleted, but are still there, that's how you can get them back out of trash.
This is not a problem on a disk drive with lots of space, but if it was full before deleting, there is still no spare space until you get rid of the files completely.

There are no songs on there but its saying space is full

Try this: Connect your MP3 player to your computer. Open "My Computer". You should see your MP3
player connected. Right click on it. Click on FORMAT. This should completely wipe everything on your
MP3 player (except for the original necessary files that came on it origianlly). You should then be able to
get all of your space back.

WHENEVER I TURN ON THIS SANSA MP3 PLAYER ALL SEE IS A READING THAT SAYS "DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGHT SPACE FOR MUSIC DB. PLEASEFREE 90MB" WHAT DOES THIS MEAN.

It thinks you have tried to put a files on the MP3, called,  Music DB, and wants you to "Free Up" ie: delete unwanted files up to 90MB, old songs movies etc so it can complete it's job. However it may just be a fault?

I have a thump 512. Want to add music to the 25-5 MB (on average) songs on it in MP3 format, but when i drag new songs to it, it says it has no space left. I deleted a couple of songs, but that didn't

That's because no offence but it has rubbish memory. 25mb is nothing these days. Most songs are 9-15mb themselves these days, and so no wonder you have no space left.

CANT FREE UP ANY SPACE ON MY SANDISK

The only thing to do for this error is goto My Computer/Computer and right click on the Sansa player, choose format.  Select Quick format.  It will delete all data but at least the player will work again.

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings.
