Question about Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

Have Canon PIXMA iP5200. This has served us well for 2 years, but recently started printing a black smeared line on the back of every page.

Canon Pixma iP5200 just started to make some thin green lines on photoprints. Colours otherwise OK. Inks are non Canon but long used and previously OK. Have tried tests, cleaning and deep cleaning with...

Are these lines evenly spaced?. Do they always appear in the same spaces?
When printing try and hold the paper so it comes out completely flat and see if the lines are there.
Repost with this additional info and i will try and help you

Smeared lines

Okay, this was the problem I posted a few days ago. It's fixed now, so in case you have the same problem with smearing, here's what the help desk from Canon suggested: Open the cover and remove the ink cartridges. There is a gray lever in front of the cartridges. Lift this lever and the printhead can be easily removed.
Our printhead had a buildup of black ink on the surface. I carefully removed this with rubbing alcohol. I let the printhead dry and replaced everything. No more smearing. Imagine a help-desk that actually helped!

Vertical black line running length of the paper

Hi all, I would suggest you update your printer drivers, try this, follow instructions exactly as written:

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop(watch for the light yellow bar at the top of window viewing pane, click on this and choose – download file - . Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.

Canon Pixma Ip 5200

Dear all,
Hmm, it seem that some ink incidentally dropped in the roller. You need to remove the cover and clean it manually with a clothe. If you cannot do this just take your printer to the nearest service center.

Printer print blue instead of black

I have the same problem with my ip 5200, when printing a document in plain black.. I spoke to canon support and they suggested to save the .doc document as a txt file before printing. It works. Not too sure if this uses any colour ink to produce the black.

You can also set the printer on grayscale. However, the printer uses the colour ink to produce black.... hence printing in black & white becomes rather expensive.

If anyone has drivers to fix this problem please let me know...
