Question about Audio Players & Recorders
Without the make and model, all I can provide is general guidance. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to resolve the rpoblem, try playing a music CD. If the CD fails, the optics will need to be replaced. If the CD works, but a DVD continues to fail, then the optics will need to be replaced also. The laser power required to read a DVD is greater than for a CD. More details can be supplied if you can post the make and model.

Dan
